Turbo my 2004

I've got a 2004 SE w/ 6 spd manual trans and I'm looking to turbocharge it. Nothing crazy, it just needs a little more, you know? I was wondering if anyone out there has put a turbo in an 04 or 05 max, what they would & would not recommend and what kind of results they've gotten.

I don't know of any turbo 6th gen maximas on this board. You could try to be the first though.

Thanks for actually being helpful

I agree with 98MikeXimaSE though, I'd wait awhile because of the warranty.

Yeah, I wasn't really planning to do it right away, but it's something I wanted to start researching & planning. I'm not really a super hard-core gearhead so it's going to take some time to get all the details sorted out.

The deal is this though: this is the third Max I've owned, and the 6 gen is really a nice peice of machinery, but I've decided that THIS one NEEDS a turbocharger so one way or another I'm going to get that f***er in there.

Good luck on this, if I made more money, I'd love ot attempt this. I think a TC'd 6th gen would be a great sleeper. Bring on the FI 3.5s!!!

SSR Engineering down in AZ does custom turbos for us, if you cough up the dough, they're shop is in San Diego who they contract the work out to, maybe start a thread in the 6th gen forum, or hell I'll do it and try to drum up some interest, maybe some of us can pitch in a bit of R&D cost to get them started or we can find someone local who wants it done, that way you'll have a quality kit that will suit your needs and those of other 6th gen owners.

but drive the car as much as possible warranties are nice!

i forget who it was, but i saw an ad in modified mag last month that had a fuel return setup for the g35 and the z. since they have virtually the same parts, it would not be hard to convert the return design to a maxima. The fuel return setup has been the biggest question. I know both pimp juice and sr20den have been theorizing about it for a while. other than that, just finding enough space for routing the piping and mounting the turbo would be the other two that you might want to consider. a relocating of the battery is a must, but make sure you have a grounding kit. I know that since i have put mine on, my idle problems have significantly decreased.
