Uneven idle at startup - from 1200 down to 650

This idle is starting to tick me off in the mornings. The idle at first start jumps up to 1200 rpm when cold and by the time it warms up it drops down as low as 650. Some of the time its good at 700 -750 rpm and the blower sounds healthy but at 650 I get the marbles-in-a-can noise. At a stoplight I have to shift out of Drive to Neutral to get the revs up and the noise goes away. All that I could get out of this is that the belt seems to vibrate at 650 and causes the blower to sound off. I've fiddled with the idle at least a year ago but it never did anything. I'd like to keep my idle at around 800 so that the blower sounds healthy again. I hate to think that I need another blower rebuild again.

I think stock idle is 650... that's what all 3 of my 4th gens have idled at.

IS your blower mounted correctly? Tight?

Why not adjust you IACV??

The blower is mounted tightly though the only bolt I left out was one of the two that are right next to the pulley.
How do you adjust the IACV? I've done the poor man's search but that didn't get me what I wanted.

Mine does the same thing on my 4th gen turbo and I had to adjust the little black plastic adjuster screw on the air idle control and that helped out.

Thanks! I've got the instructions for cleaning the IAC from the 4th gen stickies. I'll give it a good cleaning on my next free weekend.
