Is boost safe with no EGR?
Is boost safe with no EGR? I've been wondering about this. It seems that the higher CCT's would be more prone to detonation. Would a 12:1 AF with no EGR cause detonation? But it also seems that not having the pipe connected to the IM would slightly increase the boost the engine sees. The EGR pipe has volume and when the TB is opened boost must fill the pipe just as much as the IM. It may be miniscule. Just wondering.
Edit: Actually, I thought about it and WOT boost would be no problem but with the EGR eliminated at part throttle I can forsee issues.

It also reduces combustion chamber temps at part throttle. If the ECU is trying to make it as lean as possible it is a potentially bad situation when combined with boost. But since you guys have no have no EGR I'll take your experience as proof. I can rest my soul now.

Can JWT alter part throttle fuel maps? If Ash finishes up the Zemulator I'm all over that like a fat kid on cake. It could be the best thing for the 4th gen since its conception. I don't wanna mess around with the E-manage. It requires so much extra stuff to make it work.
This brings up a question about emissions. Milwaukee currently has yearly testing. No other part of Wisconsin does. If they start testing here in a while will people like me be grandfathered in the first year? If not I can make it pass the OBD-II but visual inspection will obviously fail me.

you could proboly trick the obdII with some resisters or somthing there are alot of cars the people do this on and more than likly the guys that do the visuals wont know what there looking at anyway
or you could just reinstall the egr system for emisions

Many people say the OBD-II will not throw a code if the sensors are just plugged in and dangling. That is why I'm not worried about passing the OBD-II part. You seriously don't think the inspectors would be suspicious when there is a polished snail in my engine bay? Or when the entire engine is polished and there is nothing in the bay but engine and tranny? It'd be awesome if they really were that ignorant. I'll guess I'll just have to hope to not have emissions testing here for a long time.
And fxck reinstalling EGR just for testing. LOL. I'm never gonna drive with that IM clogging **** again! I've spent over 12 hours cleaning both parts of the IM and there are still traces of carbon on the walls.

I blocked the EGR port off on mine too. It was fine on the highway all the way to Ohio and back... I got a bad batch of fuel in Ohio and that took out the rear headgasket. But the removal of the EGR works fine
~Scott.
yea I hate tha build up that it leaves in the intake... what a mess! Almost all egr systems do that..~!

I spent an @ss load of time cleaning it in a parts cleaner using a hardcore solvent made by Blaster. Same company that makes that "Fast Orange" or whatever. It works well but it isn't the cure-all. The carb cleaner that comes in a can worked extremely well but it gets very expensive. One can was only able to do about half a runner. It would have been at least 20 cans to do upper and lower so I gave up on that idea.
