So someone with a VQ35 would put in a VQ30DET crank and rods and make a 3.2L? I know that the VQ30DET has stronger rods than the VQ30DE and the VQ35 had a bad batch of rods or something but would this really be a good idea for a VQ35 engine builder. I can definitely see good potential for VQ30 builders.

Carrillo makes a light weight Pro-A rod that are cheaper then their beefier Pro-H rods for the VQ35. I don't see anything listed for the VQ30, at least in their Product list.

If they make Pro-A rods for VQ30s, that would be awesome.

Larry,

Ask they what bhp their Pro-A rods would support.

which one do you want

CUSTOM Roller Bearing Bottom End
or
CUSTOM Plain Bearing Bottom End

they've already told me that the rods I want for NA build up will not work with a turbo setup. Something about tensile strength.

try their form alex:

I think PLAIN bearing.

Tensile strain will be greater on a NA high RPM motor, so that doesn't make sense.

I'm sure their Pro-A would be plenty for 400-450whp, if stockers can.

Is the price really $300 per rod for the DET rods? I didn't realize that forged rods were that expensive. I would assume that if they were to get a new crank and destroke your engine that the rods would be really strong.

anything a little bit beefier than than the stock rods would be able to support 500-600 whp.

That is what I thought. Even if you were to get them to get them to fit the DET crank they wouldn't be much more expensive than the ~$100 a rod. That is 3x the price. I couldn't see spending $1800 on just rods unless you were going for some MASSIVE power goals.

thats why I am saying SGP sells a massed produced rod for 1099 for 6. The best deal so far has been with the group deal recently at my350z.com. I think they got them for $600-$800.
