Vortech quality

While I had my SC off the car I took a look inside. I wish I had my camera with me at the time. It looked absolutely pristine inside, with no discernible wear on the gear teeth, and no looseness in the bearings. I was amazed, since my blower has over 100,000 miles on it. I guess Mobil 1 changed every 3000 miles helped.

I also put 40k miles on my Dayco belt with no problems, either.

You've personally put over 100K on it?

Amazing and it goes to show how a blower can hold up and not need rebuilt, if you take care of it.

It had 60k when I bought it from one of the first orgers to get the SC kit. He ran it only with the 3.6" pulley, and I don't think he ever really pushed it hard.

Yep. Feels nice. The pulley is only 4% smaller, but the power difference feels like it's more than that. I've goosed it up to about 5500 rpm so far, I'm gradually easing up to redline.

nice to hear. ferhan got mine rebuilt right before i put it on, so i hope to have it working for a long time.

i just had to change the oil last night (couldn't get the restrictor off the blower w/o taking it apart so I removed the t on the oil pressure sending unit) and it seems dark for only 1500 miles. that was with castrol gtx.

The dayco belt is similar to the gates belt isn't it?

I ran mine up to 65k on the 3.6 then went to the 3.3 until 77k then the 3.12 up to 97k and that was enough for a rebuild. Your doing good

I had to put a Gates belt on it when I reinstalled because I couldn't find a Dayco. Shouldn't have waited till the last minute to buy a belt. Anyway, the Dayco has transverse breaks in the ridges, giving it a cogged look. The Gates just has the longitudinal ridges. The Gates feels a lot stiffer because of that.

I'm about to get new tires. I'll take it to redline then. Probably. Maybe.

What new pulley did you put on and what are you tunning with? You say 370cc are not gonna be enough for a 2.87? Or you just need jwt or emanage ?

I went from 3" to 2.87". With the 3" I was already maxing out the injectors (which are good for about 420 bhp at 100% duty cycle, standard pressure), so I have an adjustable fmu to bump up fuel pressure to about 65 psi at 11-12 psi boost. I have a JWT ecu and Z32 maf, but I like to tinker with afr using the fmu, adjustable fpr and SAFC.

I forgot about your traction issues, Pilot Sport A/S?

Also, you need to get superdaves' 555cc injectors and the eManage here soon, right?

Not really the right spot for this question, but why is it that JWT needs to reprogram their ECU for a smaller pulley size but for their boosed application you can raise or lower the boost w/o any retune???

Who told you they had to reprogram for a smaller pulley?

I always thought that, no? It never made sense to me but I could swear I have read that over and over

I wish I had that good of luck with mine...its still leaking out the bottom quit a bit and inside the intake housing on the impellor..Vortech is still beating around the bush to help me out.

Its been off the car twice and sent in, my expence, twice...

I have no idea what to do next
