Need help! V2 SC kit question

A friend of mine with a V2 supercharger kit called and said his car is making a noise and he thinks the idler pulley is melted.

I know on my V1 kit I can simply remove the SC belt and run the oem belt and bypass the SC pullies.

Is this true with the V2 kit?

I thought when I toasted my belt at the track I had to swap one of the pulleys to get it to fit.

Now that I think about it, my problem was that I f-ed up the pulley too, so I tried to use the stock tensioner pulley and it didn't work. I luckily had another smaller pulley. Man my brain sucks. I can't even remember what I did.

We'll have to meet up there this year. I just get kinda sick of making the long drive when I have one 10 minutes from my house. I'm definitely an outcast up here though with an import sedan...

Otherwise we have some coilovers to install, and detail meets.

yeah, i think the first detail meet for our area might be at my house. I put in the d2 thread that maybe we could get it to be a d2 weekend.

Yes, but I took a look at it last night and it doesn't appear to be a problem with the SC kit after all. The pulley is not melted and the belt is running straight and true. It may be that he has an alternator bearing going bad and is making some noise.

Sometimes you can get strange noises. You just have to figure them out..

I had a similar issue with noises too. I thought the alternator was really bad. Turns out the belt was touching the bracket just a little bit. I took it to Nissan and one of the Master Techs told me is not your alternator is the belt touching the bracket. He simply applied brake cleaner and the noise would go away. I removed the SCer and hacked off that one piece off the bracket. Noise was completely gone. It was a nasty noise as if a bearing had gone bad. Hope this helps.

If you damage the idler or belt tensioner pulley, kiss the belt good bye. Your more then likely to shred the belt almost immediately.
