Fuel leak

Been messing with my defi electronic fuel pressure gauge all afternoon. I keep gettig a leak at the T-fitting. The hose ends are fine, but where the sensor goes into the T-fitting I am getting a pretty bad leak.

I am using teflon paste, the directions say teflon tape...don't know if that is the problem

I tried using the PT-NPT adapter that comes with the gauge and it did not leak for a little while then it started again.

What to do?

Just took the fitting apart again and the fuel seems to be disenagrating the teflon paste.....does the paste need time to set?

I've just noticed the wetness too with my sensor. I think you're right about letting the teflon paste set but for how long?

I did not let the past set at all...maybe 10 minutes. I think that is my problem. I am going to go pick up some teflon tape as well.

I think you need to crank on it more. Oh yeah...what kind of teflon paste? They do make a huge difference. I tried atleast 4 kinds of paste with my nitrous system which exceeds more than 1400 psi. The one that came in a jar with brush worked the best. I got it at home depot. The ones come in the tube wouldn't hold the nitrous pressue even though the spec said it would. I believe the name is Hercules teflon paste.

I have permatex. It is in a jar with a brush.

Looks like the tape did the trick. I think the paste has to cure. But no leak for now. The car has been running for 10 min and so far so good.

I've always wondered why the paste even exists. In what applications can teflon not be used so that a paste would be warranted?

I've never heard of or seen teflon paste!! And I 've been working on cars for 15 years and planes for 6. All I've ever used on either is the tape why stray from what works-- just a friendly suggestion.

First time using either. Just read some stuff about the tape getting into the oil lines and backing things up. Thought I was going the "safer route" with the paste. I just think it needs to cure for a period of time not 2 minutes like I did. LOL

tape sometimes shread upon tightening...that ends up clogging an injector or some nitrous set up....but if you're careful then you should be ok.
