Dropping Fuel pressure

Installed the walbro a few days ago and started the car, idle fuel pressure was at 40psi via my defi electronic, exactly where is should be with the walbro. But when the car is off and the key is at the on position the fuel pressure slowly drops from 40 to 10. Is this normal with the walbro?

Yes, when you first turn to ON, the pump primes, but after a few seconds it turns off the pump, if you don't start.

Not sure on how long it should normally take to drop from 40-10 though, but I'd say probably a few minutes?

This did not happen with my stock pump. I could turn the car off and leave the key in the "on" position and it would sit at 35psi for ever. Now it starts dropping right away. Maybe 1 minute or so to hit 10 psi.

If it used to do this on my stocker I would not be so concerned.

The one time I did start the car with the walbro in the fuel pressure did stay steady at idle, it just drops when the car is turned off.

mine is the exact same way - it starts and jumps to 40ish psi, and slowly lets off to about 10.

Wow...that's not right.

I've heard of 350Z guys with this say there was a leak in the tank because the pump wasn't seated properly or something IIRC.

I'll see what I can dig up.

Yeah. I have the same effect too. With the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator and pump it would sit at 32-35psi. Thats becuase the stock pump keeps the line pressurized in the off state.

The Walbro 255 High Flow Pump, does not keep the lines pressurized in the off state. It will only pressurize when the pump is turned on. I know there is a Walbro HF and HP pump. HF= High Flow and HP= High Pressure.

I know on some other cars after installing walbro pumps (or any intank) often the oring seal on the top of the pump is not seated correctly and the fuel pressure is leaking back through the pump into the tank.
