Any help installing the HKS SSQV BOV snap ring?

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for installing the snap ring for the HKS SSQV BOV. I don't know if mike got it on yet but he was having a very hard time with it. He tried some cheap snap ring pliers and then went and got some good snap ring pliers and still no luck.

Curse and get pissed off for 10 mintues and it will go on.
That **** is hard to get on, just make sure to have strong snap ring pliers. I've broken the tips of Craftsmen pliers putting that thing on. And it helps if you use a flat head to push down on the center of the snap ring opposite the open side.

when Jay25 did mine it took three sets of hands to push down and squeeze that thing down...you just need someone squeezing the pliers and one or two people pushing down the ring in different areas.

Yeah, two people, good pliers and 1 or 2 screwdrivers to push on the ring should do it. Sadler and I gouged the crap out of his when it popped out during the install.

It's why we went w/ Greddy instead for Shadow's car

Thanks for posting that Neal, but I think I got it right after I talked to you. I spent over $40 in snap plires on that SOB. All of them either broke (cheap harbor freight ones) or just plain would not work. I think I spend more than 3hrs messing with that thing and running around to buy pliers.

I was trying to do it by myself so that was probably part of the problem. I finally got it after I removed the cover of the BOV to give me more room then a combination of luck, a screw driver, and snap ring pliers got that sucker on. I think that metal the snap ring is made out of is some top secrect NASA stufff lol

Honestly I bought every kind that seemed like they would work. I even bought a $20 pair of channel lock snap ring pliers that looked invinsable...

It seemed my problem with the pliers was that the ends that went into the snap ring holes were way too small. Look for some with larger ends on them to fit the holes snug. Mine just kept slipping off. Having another person there helps alot too.

I ended up buying craftsman pliars, and used some tips that had about a 45 degree bend in them, once I finally got both sides hooked it poped right off. **also** something you guys may want to check is your O ring under the BOV its self. Mine is on my V2 set up. The front of my gasket was pretty much melted away on the front and all that was left was some white residue on the track inside of the flange where the O ring goes. I am not sure if this is caused by having my flange re welded while the BOV was still on, or from radiator heat, or possibly some chemical may have eaten away at it (i.e. antifreeze) Really don't know, just something you guys may want to check.

Where is a good place to get another HKS SSQV O ring?
