dynoed my 3rd gen turbo

ok I dont have the slip with me as im on a friends labtop but heres what i came out with
10psi with a ct26
this was a dyno jet.
the run was done in 3rd. we tryed 4th but it made a little less power.

the best run was 239.5 hp
351.5 l/b torque
the air fuel was around 11.9 a little on the rich side but not that bad.

Im just wondering why my horse power was so low. the torque was nice but the hp sucked.the Air fuel never got richer than 11.7.
I only picked up about 100hp to the wheels from stock.

tell me about it. I wondering why the hp is so low. they told me the hp was off because of heat soak on the intake elbow from the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold was getting hot. the intercooler pipes are cold. The ecu is still pulling timing too we beleive.

but it should be somewhere in between like 270 whp and 270 tq. Something like that.

Maybe dyno is out of calibration.

from what little experience I have had with dyno's, heat soak = TQ loss.

I've lost 30 lbs tq from back to back runs.

NEVER that much hp, more like 5 hp.

Maybe he had the wrong/tranny selected????

It just means he is making a lot of low-midrange power, and the torque starts dropping off well before 5200 rpm. Maybe the turbo is too small. It would help to see the graphs.

ill try to get them on some time this week. um the torque does drop off. but the hp holds all the way to 6000. Peak is about 5200 like you said.

I'd side on a turbo that's too small. A CT26 may come stock on a MKIII Supra but it also powers the Celica All-Trac which is only a 2L. From what I've seen the stock turbo has trouble making big power on most Supras so I would think it's the limiting factor here. They only came w/ 232hp/254ft-lb stock so I believe pushing it to 10psi on your car went beyond its efficiency range. I'd swap to something a bit bigger.

Either that or 3rd Gen Maximas have atrocious intake manifolds that kill top end power like those early 4.6L Mustangs. BTW, that is some serious stump pulling torque you're putting down if it maxed out at 239whp.

They say the ct26 is effcient to like 15psi but I could not run no more than 10psi
due to small injectors

Do you have the only diesel Maxima ever made? If heat soak was the problem you car would feel like a honda, no tq or hp. On dyno jets car weight and tire size isn't usualy in the calculation, there for the only other option would be wrong gear, unless they have no clue what they are doing.

Yea the guys at CP race are good guys. I know all the guys really good, they just got that dyno a couple months ago. I was there the day there brought it back. Im sure if you go there with a modded Maxima they will ask you if you know me lol. Shoot me a pm if you plan to head this way and we can meet up and I'll roll out there with you.

BTW Toms dyno has been on par with the other dynojet 248c's around the area that I know about...
