Clutch is almost done-need advice.

My stock oem clutch is almost gone, i barely got to work this morning lol, I need some suggestions on a boosted clutch, what you guys use? I need something durable that will withstand 14-15 psi and around 400whp. Also is it ok if i drop that clutch in now and install my turbo system in about a month or so, hows the clutch going to feel without the boost? Thanks guys I need one asap if anyone is also maybe seeling one or knows someone who sells em.

SPEC StageII clutch. More than enough and has a Kevlar clutch so smooth engagement and no chatter.

I have heard a lot of good things about clutchnet clutches. You might want to talk to them. I know mardigras and nealoc are both running them with their turboed cars.

Clutchnet. Neal, Mardi, and Insw use the 6 puck sprung hub. I use their full disk fiber-carbon pro. Great clutch.

No problem at all installing the clutch before boost. Does not make a differnece at all. That is what I did so I did not have to go through the break in period with a newly boosted car. Who wants to intall a turbo and a clutch have to baby the car for the next 500 miles.

I'm in the same boat as you, MaxinProgress.

Currently, I drive my Max almost every day as my daily driver. I have virtually no traffic to deal with, whatsoever. I plan on going to the track every weekend, or every other at the minimum. Ptatohed and I just bought our DOT helmets! Oh yeah!

Alright, total newb questions. What's the difference between sprung and unsprung? What does "puck" mean? I don't know squat when it comes to flywheels/clutches.

Considering I'm boosted at 10 psi, what do you guys recommend for me? Same as Mardi, Neal, and Insw? I know those guys are 300+hp. Also, keep in mind that I'm no where near done with the car, I'm shooting for 325 whp. I estimate right now I'm around 255-260 whp.

Mike, what's the difference between your clutch and the one Mardi and the others are using? (driveability, feel wise)

Researching clutches/flywheels is driving me nuts. So many mixed opinions The only thing I have figured out, is that if one gets a flywheel, the consensus is to go with Fidanza vs the other companies.

This is a full sprung hub disk.

See the six springs in the hub? Those allow for some slippage and not so much an on/off clutch engagement. It is full disk becasue it is a complete round surface, compared to the puck type, which is not a full disk and will grab harder.

The pressue plate is what holds the power and the clutch is how it graps, more or less.

I went with the full disk for more steetability, per clutchnet's recomendation.

Well, like I said, neal is using an ACT PP with a Cluthnet disk so I would think not.

I am no clutch expert, but from what I know and have seen most aftermarket PP are just stock ones beefed up. No change in the actual structure, just a stiffer spring.

stock tranny?? will that be daily 15lbs?? 15-16lbs killed Redmax's tranny and I think Mardis too. be careful. and IMO stay AWAY from SPEC, even the high stages. we took Corey's out a few weeks ago and it was worn to ****. I vote Clutchnet like everyone else said.

had nothing but trouble with SPEC in Redmax's car...the first one couldn't hold and the latest one(stage 3) like I mentioned was worn beyond belief when I took it off a few weeks ago. I'm not a strong believer in SPEC quality, though I have seen some do well in the SRs.
