Rough Idle when Cold
I sent my ECU back to JWT for them to see if they could fix the EVAP code...well without the actually code, they werent able to do anything to the computer
After they sent it back, I put it in with the same exact setup then I had before, exept Im using a different MAF plug, but wired up the same and im getting a rough idle in the cabin when the cars warming up ?? It idles fine, not loopy, but the engine car has a vibration to it ??
Im getting a code but I think its still the EVAP code coming over..
What could this be ? Plugs ?? I cant think of anything that it could be other than the ECU programming they messed with

the values to richen the mixture when warming the engine up may not have been modifyed correctly. could be rich, could be lean. Its just a thought. I am haveing this problem a bit on my 91 maxima when the engines cold. I dont think its giving it enough fuel when its cold. Im running 550cc injectors with an emulator on my ecu at the moment running live edit. which i might add is the way to go for any VGs boosting.
Somewhat old thread - but matty - same issue now that I have 3" piping.
Rough idle when cold - leaning out to about 18:1 A/F according to the LM-1 until warm.
Also getting code 1005 - EVAP.
97 Maxima - 95 5spd ECU.

Uh....
I wish you told me about this a long time ago matty!

its very intermittent. I do not have trouble all the time, but every once and a while its lopey. Nothing as bad as what you're describing.
Everyone has their own quirks. Its hard to keep everyone's straight.

wish thats all I had to worry about. I got my JWT ECU back and put it in and tried to do a pull. THe car felt like it was down 50whp and was complete garbage. Ohh well Im parting the car out in the coming week or so, so im not worried about it. I plan to send it back and get it flashed to the NA spec so I can sell it with the MEVI.

Slimer - because up may have slightly different symptoms from down - for example - mine was mostly only on cold start.
<copied from another thread - but may as well have it many places so people don't feel pain again>
Tried it this morning on cold start again....
It's fixed! While the idle isn't perfect, at least when cold I can start it and the engine revs without issue (no bucking) and the idle isn't so bad the car stalls out or anything.
Turns out after a year all I had to do was turn the MAF 90 degrees!
So this is why the Z32 MAF doesn't work with the Stillen Charge Piping. It only allows the MAF to sit with the harness facing up or down - not at 90 degrees like it should.

well, my MAF is on the straight pipe in front of the front valve cover so turbulence isn't an issue.
Blu-sucks that you're parting out. You have contributed greatly to this site and specifically this forum.

It was a combination of both.
If the engine is at all warm - then it's fine.
But after sitting overnight and starting, it would buck/hesitate.
In addition - the colder it is (like when it was 25 degrees last winter) - the worse it is on initial startup after car had been sitting overnight.
When 50 degrees out it wasn't as bad - but was still undrivable until car had gotten past the "C" line.
I'm really happy to speak of this in the past tense.
Of course, there's still a chance of some issues when it is 25 degrees out - but in Seattle that's pretty rare and I have the Jetta to get me around in the winter anyway.
