Thank you all.
Thank you all.

After searching and reading through countless threads, I've managed to make it this far.
Mods thus far
Warpspeed Y-Pipe
High Flow Cat
Short throw shifter
Still more to come.
Welcome to the world of FI, Blarg! How's your install going? Running yet?
Did you ever get your clutch question answered?
I have a centerforce dual friction clutch; and I'm running a 3.12" pulley and essentially straight pipe exhaust. Had the Centerforce for a year now, and it's been great. No chatter, no slip and OEM-like engagement. Yes, I do drive it like I stole it!
If you haven't upgraded your clutch, you will need to soon! Have fun!
Now if only I could stop shredding belts... working on that this afternoon...

In terms of my clutch search I'm still doing research on it. But I do have my eyes on the centerforce and clutchnet clutches.

It looks like my V2 problem is that the part of the plate that holds the idler pulley flexes / has flexed so that under load the belt moves to the outside of idler then alternator pulley, shreds off outside rib and goes downhill from there. It could also be play or flex in idler pulley or bearing. I've watched it from underneath, and made a little video I can host if anyone's interested. I think the plate, being aluminum, is just too weak. And yes, I do have all bolts in and snug, and aligned everything at rest with straight edge and laser. Belt seems to track fine at idle, then creeps under load. And Gatorback belt fares worse than Gates - it's as if the ribs are made to 'cut along the dotted line'.
I've got my name on the V1 list and, if they work, I'll definitely buy one. They need to be precisely machined to avoid another alignment problem. For now, I ordered APS pulleys last week, expect them this week, and I'm trying some shimming this afternoon to correct.

Based on the many maxima owners I know who had them fail within a couple thousand miles on here, the advice of the most knowledgeable people on this board, and my friend who had one on his civic that couldn't handle hard launches on slicks at the track even though it was rated at much more torque than his car had a prayer of making.
Edit: when I say "fail" I mean slipping, not complete structural failure or anything like that.
Edit again: I thought I remembered a thread about structural failure and general crappiness of multiple centerforce clutches and I was right.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=Centerforce
This thread does not paint a pretty picture for Centerforce clutches in the slightest. Not a single positive comment about them that I can see, all from well respected members who have had them fail on them.
Just to update on my belt shredding issue:
I got a 3.12" SC pulley and spacer set from 928 Motorsports. Shimmed SC pulley a total of ~4mm toward engine, and viola! No belt wear after 100mi of use. However, this doesn't leave room for one of the top bracket bolts, and tightening the other was a PITA. I plugged the empty hole to prevent oil leaks and I'm hoping for the best. Belt is now tracking in exact center of idler and tensioner pulleys.
On the clutch thing, all I can offer is my personal experience, which has been good so far. SR20DEN did indicate in the referenced thread that the 5th Gen Dual Friction might be improved over the 4th Gen model.
In a fairly heavy, overpowered car driven hard, any clutch is going to have a shortened lifespan. If I get two years out of my friction disk, I think that's fair. I'm actually more impressed that the POS stock flywheel hasn't packed it in yet. Gotta replace that when the clutch wears out.

Good to hear its workin out.
Steve
I left out the captive bolt between the pulley and the bracket. With a 3.12" pulley, the formerly captive one toward the front isn't captive anymore but was a PITA to tighten. The pulley is close enough that you can't get a 10mm wrench on it properly. So it was a combination of needlenose pliers and a wrench. Hope it's tight enough to not work loose. I'm keeping an eye on it.
It's a small point of pride that I can get the little 5/32" allen wrench bolt that goes behind the idler pulley in and out in under 10 minutes now, with a minimum of skinned knuckles.
