Backwards Wastegate

I noticed on my friends setup that his external WG was never limitting boost. I wasn't sure if it was the WG itself or the manual boost controller but I think maybe I forund the reason. I think he may have hooked up the WG backwards meaning that the plunger was facing the dump tube and not into the manifold. I'm not sure if this would cause it to not function at all since either way the plunger should open anyway, but I thought I might ask and see what you guys say.....and BTW, flipping the wastegate is not such a simple task the way it was designed

sounds like its backwards the plunger should face the manifold

I know the wastegate is backwards...I'm asking whether this would affect anything (read bottom of post)

my guess is the exhaust pressure is stoping the waste gate from opening (since its in backwards) therefore not controlling boost
