V2 noisy?
BlackCat - I will give your suggestion a shot and will check under the hood this weekend.
Linuxr - It's relatively a new kit. I bought it off of somebody who ended up selling his max and never installed the kit. The kit was still in it's original packaging. However, I put about 1000+ miles on it already.
I will try to post a clip tonight of what it sounds like. Maybe I might be missing something that maybe you guys can hear.

blarg compared to mine (shhhhh!! its me) lol, and it sounds like a v1 compared to mine....mine has about 15k on it, fairly broken in....by the way, i started getting that marble in a can noise at idle, the metal sleeve came out of the air filter and started clanking against the fins and i shut off and put it back on and its not as much, but its still there, could that make my pulley loose? and i only hear it at idle, can u actually SEE the pulley shake or something when its loose? HELP, sorry to hijack blarg, but we are friends so im allowed to, lol....

I changed the hosting location of the video file since I think it might've discouraged people with the popups.

This should play straight into the browser. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Actually, its not the dreaded marbles-in-a-can noise at all but it sure sounds more like a V1 to me. Does the tag on the blower actually has V2 stamped on it?

Last time I fixed the problem I noticed that little square peg that fits into that slot between the spindle and the drive pulley is getting worn and isn't square like it used to be. Its supposed to keep things snug fitting. Has anyone experienced the same problem?
mine is still squared, and even worse, its sturdy and making the noise, i think ure right....
the metal sleeve on the airfilter came loose and the fins were chopping it up...had a few metal shavings in there....now i fixed it and its still making the noise...i blame the installer for this....but whatever....
and yes his blower clearly said v2 on it.... mine u can barely hear (before this marble in the can crap), but his sounds clearly supercharged....

The little metal peice you refer to is called a "key". I have had my pulley come loose more than once. Most recently it has come extremely loose on a 600 mile road trip. I had the blower rebuilt at 98k and it has only 14k on it now. I am hoping the bolt or the key had came loose and that I dont need a rebuild. If I need a rebuild I will feel very ripped off by vortech seeing how I only got 14k out of this one! I have not taken the time to look at it since I took it off since the last allen bolt I went to take of broke the tip of the wrench off in it.... Your blower sounds like the pulley may be coming loose. It is hard to tell when the belt is tight against the pulley. It all starts with a small amount of play and get worse and worse.

im having the same problem too. its wierd i got the s/c back after a rebuild and it ran fine, then my waterpump started to leak so i had to take it off to change it and when i put the s/c back on all i hear is a can of marbles at idle only. i called vortech and they said as long as it stops after 1,000rpm its normal and if i decide to send it back they wont fix it unless its a actuall bearing problem. my thing is it purred like a kitten until i took it back off and then walah marbles noise. at the first start up its quiet but once it warms up it makes the noise. its too cold now to try and mess with it but its driving me nuts.
Couple of notes from my almost 5 years with the SC:
The pulley should only be tight in relations to the shaft. Pulley should spin the impeller by hand with a little effort.
Some V2s are louder than others (probably with age but mine is still pretty quiet though i don't put many miles on it a year).
Try a few drops of oil on the shaft between the pulley and the S/C body. This has quieted down some idle noise for me a few times, though someone else said it didn't work for him.

maybe this will work for blarg, but if i rest my hand on the SC i feel it knock and kick while its running...its so agonizing....i was able to pull up in front of a bunch of ppl and they heard NOTHING....now its all clunking and shyt, everytime i read this thread it reminds me of my previous stealth status.... but then after 1,000rpm it is gone though....but at a light i feel like sitting in neutral with my foot on the gas revving up to 1,000rpm...this bites....
