Injector question on an engine swap.

Hope you guys don't flame an old soul for asking this but i couldn't find any direct info for my query with my limited searching abilities.

The situation is this. I may be swapping out a DE in favor of a DE-K. The car currently has a PFI kit on it. I'm pretty sure i'm going to need the 370's for the new engine cause the older style 370's won't fit the rail. Did anyone ever find a solution for the top feeds on the 00-01's?
Worse come to worse i'll just use another DE, but for the same amount of money i'd rather get the K. Can anyone think of any issues i may run into with running the kit on the DE-K and useing the 95 ecu?

I don't know the specifics of the DE to DEK swap enough to answer that question (other than the obvious top feed vs side feed business). You could always go the route of retaining the side feed fuel rail like guys do when they just put the 00VI on, which involves tapping some holes in the LIM and such.

If you want to stick with top feed injectors you can get top feeds in a bunch of different sizes from Deatschwerks, by buddy just put down 460whp with Deatschwerks 440cc top feed injectors at 3.5bar FP.

I'm almost afraid to ask how much these run. Got a link for them by chance? I'll go search in the mean time though.

www.deatschwerks.com is the website. The new top feed applications are not yet listed on the site.

The top feed injector retail price is $600 w/o cores. Core refund is $150.

Maxima.org price is $500 with the same $150 core refund.

So $350 for maxima.org members if you can send back a set of top feed cores.

These are for the 440's but if you want larger than that it is not a problem. As far as I know these would be the only high flow top feed injectors that drop right in and use the stock harness.

Well, poop. That kind of puts the whole engine swap out of the question. Any word on what the stock CC's are for the DE-K injectors?

Most likely the DE-K motor you get will have the injectors still on it. Just use those as cores if it is a price thing.

Still seems pricey to me. There are Nismo 555's t/f on ebay for 300-350 for a set of 6 within the past week til now. That's without any core charge.

I've never seen nor even heard of a Nismo top feed injector. Got a link to them?

perhaps you are talking about these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...QQcmdZViewItem

If so, you don't want to buy those injectors, trust me. Unless you don't mind replacing motors because your injectors have a 20% variance in their flow rates...

I just did a dek swap, but retained the DE upper and lower intake. with the EVAP, and EGR systems. I plan on getting the 95 ECU and top feeds but time and cash have not permitted. If your still using the FMU that came with the PFI kit you should be fine using the DEK injectors.

Power Enterprise 380cc/510cc and NISMO 480cc are drop-in Plug-N-Play with the DEKs or VQ35s.

Here is a picture of the NISMO top-feed 480cc injectors, which are cheaper NEW then PE380cc/510cc NEW but extremely hard to find used:

"Nismo 480cc for Nissan Skyline R34 GTT with RB25DETT NEO Engine. It is extremely difficult to find on the second market as there are not much around. Part number is 16600-RR710 (Purple)."

Thanks Icey, you posted some great info. Not sure just what you are refering to in this reply though. The link i posted is of Nismo top feeds are they not? On a side note doesn't denso make the Nismo injector?

Are you sure about this? I just don't follow how one could have a system set up to run with 370's then drop in 290's and get the same thing? Can you explain to me how the difference in injectors doesn't matter in this case?

It all boils down to i would be paying the same amount for a DE or DE-K motor. The DE is a straight across R&R. The K would require me to upgrade on the injectors. Adding 500 bucks to the total, plus all the little costs for things to drop in the K motor to work on the 95 ecu, would just put the project out further than i want to spend on it.

Everything is supposed to run fine now so i don't want to go screwing with a retune to get the a/f correct for running a smaller injector. Plus i don't want to have to run more pressure on the injectors just to get them to keep the a/f from going to lean. Don't like the idea of over working them with high pressures and 100% duty cycles.

Oops...didn't look close enough, those are top-feed, but not ones that will work with our rail and probably injector bosses.

Not sure about the Denso makes Nismo injectors question.

The DE has 370's.

Did i understand someone correctly that the vq35de injectors(mainly the 350Z) will fit OE style in the K motor?

As Icy2k1 said those Nismo top feeds in the ebay auction will not work in the maxima rail, neither will they plug in to the maxima harness, and they are used.

Now I understand what you meant when you said the DEK is out of the question. I didn't know if you meant monetarily or thought it just wouldn't work.

You could just put an 00VI on the DE, utilizing your current injectors. That's what I'd do. No need to switch fuel rails, injectors, etc.

Oh and to answer your other question SR20DEN just told me that the DEK injector and the 350Z injector are the same injector. I'd never seen a DEK injector myself so I didn't know but I thought they were, and he confirmed it.

The problem with going with the 00vi is that i'm still putting out another 400-500 bucks. Whether i buy a de and put a 00vi manifold on, or buy a K motor and swap in 500 bucks worth of injectors, i'm still spending the same amount of money.

Thanks for confirming the injector theory. Now i have numerous options on injectors for much less than was offered before.

The 95-99 VQ30DE has side feed 240cc-260cc@3bar injectors stock, while the 2000-2001 VQ30DEK has 290cc@3bar injectors stock.

well if you have the mevi like i did on my de motor, i just used the dek block and put thoe whole intake manifold with the mevi and 370 cc injectors so i didnt have to use the smaller dek injectors.

Again, DEK injectors = 290cc > DE injectors = 240cc-260cc

Z32TT injectors are 370cc NOT stock 4th gen injectors.

Is the DE you currently have in the car need to be replaced?

I think the most cost effective way could be to swap in the DEK motor. Sell your current side feed 370's for about $200. Use the stock top feeds that come with the DEK as core returns. That way your only paying about $150 or so for some new higher flowing DW top feeds. Much better IMO and cost effective than doing an 00VI swap. It is not about the DW injectors, you could go with any higher flowing top feed and still come out close to the same.

I just read through this entire post again, and every post is a viable option. They are just not what you want to hear. You have a preconceived notion that majic and some luck will automaticly make your 370s work with a DEK swap. No mater what you will have to retune your car because that is the nature of the beast. Further more, 3 of the most knowledgeable people in this forum have given advice, yet you refuse to take it. I just chimed in because I went through this swap 2 weeks ago and currently I don't have the cash to buy the new injectors, but will around christmas. You have tons of options, here they are.

1. Status Qoe.
2. Perform the DEK swap, and retain the DE upper and lower intakes with the 370s you currently own
3. Perform the DEK swap, sell your 370 injectors, use your cores on the DEK engine to buy 440's for a minimal cost of around $150
4. Perform the swap and use the vortec FMU that came with the PFI kit to run the factory DEK injectors until you have the cash to upgrade your injectors.
5. Perform the swap and modify the DE lower IM to mate with the 00IV upper manifold and hope you dont have any leaks.
6. Go crazy and put in a VQ35.

I think those are about the only options. If you are concerned about the $150 for injectors then the randome inccidentals of a motor swap are going to kill you!
