Finally got my car back today...

Well guys after two long weeks I finally got it back tonight. I can't say how happy I am even with 4.5psi of boost, it takes some getting use to. There are still a few minor things to do like wiring my VI, tapping the coolant and J&S/EBC install but they will be coming shortly.

Initial reaction: It really it seem just as fast if not faster than when I had a 75 shot when boost kicked in. Boost comes in right around 3k and full boost at 4kish. my VI is not hooked up so I'm wondering if they will be more power to be unlocked even without any tunning. What I am actually suprises is that I am blowing off very loud even at 1 psi of boost. I thought many people dont here the blow off valve until like 6-7psi, maybe something to do with forward-y and BB turbo? I dunno if the car is running as good as it should since when I datalogged a couple of 2nd and 3rd pulls, I'm running consistent high 9.9 to mid 10's AF so I am running extremely rich. Another thing is that when I shift I get this horrible shutter especially from 1st to 2nd under boost, it seems to lose boost/power and takes a split second to gain it back. Its not a smooth transistion shift at all when I'm on it whether if I shift fast or slow. This is very puzzling and I may get some video on this so you guys may help me figure it out. Other than that the car runs very well for the lack of tuning and I also will take pics asap.
Thanks everyone (especially Neal, Mike and Steve) who has help me and answer any/many questions that I had.

As being the second person to ride in it I can attest to the hesitation from 1 to 2. Other that than car is freaking sweet. Nice Job justin!

Hesitation went away with the VI hooked up. it feels a lot smoother and more powerful up top. Pics are coming as soon as I get the digicam from the sister.

Good news!

I my BOV releases air at very low boost as well.

I had a bad hesitation on the 2-3 and 3-4 shift as well. I didn't really do anything to fix it. If you don't let off the trottle all the way between shifts it won't bog like that. It is not the flywheel. I can't remeber exactly when it went away for me or what I did when it stopped doing it.

You have an SAFC? Just take out some fuel and do some more data logging.

I have a HKS SSQV, it not adjustable and its acted up a for littlebit yesterday. It blew off like a turkey, long and wierd sounding but went away after a while...
I have a safc and did some datalogging with the WB, what gear should I tune it at? 3rd?
I will do some adjustments after the new year and see how much better it runs.
I do have a Fidanza and thought that maybe it butlike Mike said if you let the clutch out slower its the hesitation goes away.

Sorry I have not taken pics but I'll get them as soon as I can. Thanx for all the help guys.

Sounds great Justin. I'm glad that you got the WB in so you won't blow it up. I really want to see some of those pics.

The HKS SSQ bov has a screw on 1 end. I would consider that an adjustable bov right? I had 1 and I can remember "screwing" with it. Maybe your ecu needs some drive time and things may smooth out. Enjoy the boost!

I would not worry about the BOV. I have an SSQV and if I barely get into boost and then go into nuetral it will go off like no other.

Happy New Year!

Okay found the turkey noise, it was the MAF gasket not giving a good seal so whenever it blew off, it made the flapping noise that sound like a turkey gobble.
With that also fix the small boost leak and car feel much much better and faster.

Also now a question, I know I am running extremely rich at the meat of the powerband but I also feel the power increase when the VI opens at 5200 rpm.
Now should I lower the vi activation to like maybe 4700 or maybe even 4500? Would this be benificial? I really feel like when the VI opens I get this second kick in power.

The BOV is not a problem no more since I found the problem and I really rather not touch the adjustment screws seeing that people have had trouble with BOVs after they messed with it. Its fine the way it is now.

No, if you had it set that low you would see a dip in power for a few hunderd rpm's untill 5.K-5.3K. Keep the activation point right around 5.2K.

I had a problem with that same MAF gasket. I ened up having to seat it with silicone. I still have a small leak at the top of my MAF on the square part where the sensor is.

Thats exactly what I did,I just silicone it instead and it seems to be holding fine. I will leave the rpm switch alone then. Thanx. I will take some pics today and get em on tonight.

I also did some tuning tonight. Original fuel pressure at WOT was at 41, I drop it down to 39 @ WOT. It brought the AF from 9.9 (4k-5K) to about 10.6ish, I used the SAFC and pulled a -9% at the richest points, avg of -5% correction and added avg of +2% back near red line. Now I am at a consistent 11.4-11.5 and the car feels great. I have the file saved on the computer and can post them if you guys like...

Send your Zeitronix file to Choray911@aol.com Let me take a peek at it. Be careful, boost is addictive. Congrads on the install, give a kudos to the person what welded up the exhaust. Nice design.

Did a little acceleration comparison with my buddy's 240 RB25DEt swap, he is running a intake and exhaust on 7 psi with a t3/t4. We did 2 highway runs in 3rd and 4th.
The first run I had a passenger with me and I pulled as we punched it, about 1/2 to a car as we get into 4th, he gets that back and then very minimal creep.
The second run, he had the passenger, we went and I pull again straight from the punch but I keep pulling away. We have yet to race with just a single person in the car but I think it will be a very close race.
To be fair also his car is untuned and in need of a bigger fuel pump but for 7psi, its freaking fast and a total sleeper. He has so much more potential then I can ever have and I know he will be able to beat me for sure once he get his thing together. Just thought I share it with you guys.
