assumming 8.5 is your max boost now, i think a 2.87 pulley would give you 9.6psi and a 3.125 would give 8.8psi (it would be alittle less than those #'s since your intake tract also consume a pecentage of psi, not a fixed amount, which increases as flow increases) it's been awhile since i dropped outta college so you should check my work below.

boost before - 10
boost after - 8.5
pulley size now - 3.25
possible pulley sizes - 2.87, 3.125
scer multiplier - x=32.5
cooler restriction ratio - y=0.15

formulas:
before cooler
-scer mulitplier/pulley size = psi
after cooler
-scer multiplier/pulley size - (scer multiplier/pulley size)cooler restriction ratio = psi

x/3.25 = 10psi
x=32.5
32.5/3.25 = 10psi

10 - 10y = 8.5 (current set up)
-10y = 8.5 - 10
-10y = -1.5
y=0.15

32.5/2.87 = 11.32

11.32 - 11.32(0.15) = 9.62psi

32.5/3.125=10.4

10.4 - 10.4(0.15) = 8.84psi

if it's wrong, i dropped outta college. what do you expect??? if it's right, there ya go. just playin w/ the numbers a bit.
Well.... I'm an engineer and that gave even me a headache. Thanks for the calcs jac. I think you are right, time for a 2.87 incher.

jac, we are most likely going to dyno this Sunday. Here is the link that Ewuzh was kind enough to send us:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=479678
The Wiz and I actually went last year (took his Toyota) but we forgot about this year until Eric reminded us! It is in Stanton. That's about 60 miles for us and I think about 90 miles for you.

On a slightly different note, I went to the 1/8 track last Friday at Qualcom in San Diego but it was cancelled due to a 'chance of rain'. I was so bummed. I even brought ice for the ice box.

I was going to suggest a 2.87 pulley. With a 2.87 you should be fine. Boost will come on a bit sooner then the 3.25.

Update:
Well, I dynoed on Sunday with ewuzh and The Wizzy. However, I had what can only be called extremely coincidental bad luck. My Air/Water AfterCooler 12V water pump pooped out right at dyno time. Let me back up. Only the night before (Sat. night) did I finally get my dual temp. gauge installed. That night and on the way to the dyno, I was getting two distinctly different readings from each channel (one probe is at the blower outlet and one is right after the aftercooler). I was reading a delta of about 10-15 degrees while doing casual highway cruising (Just above 80^ vs. just below 95^). I was reading a peak delta of about 30 degrees during boost (a little under 120^ vs. a little over 150^). This was with ambiant temps of 55^ to 70^ (55^ Sat night, 70^ Sun. morning). So I know my AWAC works! However, I only dynoed at 242 HP. This pretty much is equal to my last dyno at Stillen. Since then, I have done the AWAC (but with a 2PSI reduction), Y-Pipe, 25 lb --> 14 lb wheels, larger air filter, 2.5" --> 3" intake (oh, and tilting headrests! ). When I left the dyno, both my temp channels where identical!!! What the <bleep>? I pulled over and noticed my pump wasn't flowing any water. Therefor, I am not 100% sure but I think (hope?) my pump was not working during the dyno. That would explain why I measured the same as last time: The AWAC was rendered useless since the pump was not working yet I still had the 2PSI drop but all my other little mods made up for the drop so I was right back where I was. ???? In conclusion, the dyno is probably inconclusive. I will order a new pump today and try to dyno again soon. I was also running rich. The dyno tech said I would probably be at 280HP if I leaned that out.

I'll post my new dyno results here when I do it (probably in mid-March)

I will also start keeping a log of ambiant temp vs. channel 1 and 2 temps vs. boost level (once I replace my pump) and post them here so we know the results of the cooler.

Congrats again to Eric and Jim on their 264 and 318 HP dynoes (respectively)!

Oh, can some one provide a formula or a link to a calculator which provides the power/efficiency increase for intake temp reductions? Thanks.

Josh, I don't know where the calculator is, but are you sure that you do not have a boost leak and/or belt slip? I had some similar issues when I dynoed about two years ago. I had both issues and was only putting down around 240.

Props to you guys. My buddy used one of the square box Spearco exchangers and got very significant temp drops in his Civic. I wanted to try this but couldn't figure out a place to put the exchanger my friend also had some issues with the pump so I decided not to bother ... I would be interested in what temp drops you record. My air inlet temp is pretty warm!
