can some one post me a link as to where i can find some 2 step colder NGK spark plugs for a 3.5L in copper. All the places in town only have the stock platinum plugs.

Thanks
Chris

I would use Iridium since it is supposed to give a stronger spark, laster longer than copper (remember you have to take off the IM to change them), but are cheaper than Platinum. They are also boost friendly like copper.

It seems they don't make 2 step colder plugs for the VQ35. I can't seem to find them.

LFR6AIX-11 Iridium 1 step colder
LFR6A-11 Copper 1 step colder

Are the Denso iridium plugs that much different than NGK?

You can get 2 step colder iridiums (LFR7AIX) here but no 2 step coppers.

thanks for the help guys,

I have seen on my350z that shariff always uses 1 step colder plugs because he says the 2 steps foul really quickly. Would running 1 step colder be dangerous?

I was running 2 steps colder with the Iridium IX but went back to 1 step colder... I'm running 3.12" pulley. I really doubt you need 2 steps colder unless you actually are experiencing detonation...

Yeah you really don't need 2 step. The only reason you would need 2 step is if you were running a LOT of boost or boost and N2O.

1 step colder iridiums are probably your best bet.

NGK is the only brand that should be used in a Maxima.

Do you know if the NGK's sold at the dealer are the same as say AutoZone NGks?

Yes, they are the same, however, in Autozone, you'll find lot's of alternative NGK plugs available for our cars. They are way cheaper, but those are not the same. The same ones are $10+ each.

Yes they are. Densos use a finer electrode tip than NGK (0.4mm for Denso vs. 0.6mm for NGK). That means better spark and shorter life.

That paragraph from Maxmods keeps coming up in spark plug threads and it's a bunch of crap. Some other brands have quality control issues and make plugs with weird designs that do more harm than good in our engines (e.g. Bosch), but NGK is definitely not the only company that makes plugs that will work properly. Denso, for example, is 100% fine.

For the record, I ran Denso Iridiums for a while and switched to NGK Iridiums pretty recently. I liked the Densos better.

You can replace them without removing anything but the coil-on-plugs, you just have to get crafty.
