Oil Pressure Guage Hookup...

I know this is a Newbie question, but have simply never done it before and wanted some validation about how to hook up Oil pressure guage. My concern is that if I go to AutoZone and hook it up wrong, I'll have incorrect readings and an oil leak! This is in an '89 Maxima.

I understood that I have to "T" off the stock oil pressure sensor to hook up my guage. I'm not sure what exactly I need to buy or what size to do this. So, what is the best way to hook this up? Or, is there a kit for this kind of thing? Also, do I have to let the oil run through the line to the guage (get out all the air) then attach the line into the guage? Or can I just connect the line to the gauge and it will bleed itself? Thanks for all the patients and support!

hey.. if you dont know.. ask. Ill answer it..

Yea you need to T off of the factory sender. with the correct size tee.. I personally would just use 1.8 inch pipe thread.. used it many times and the threads are Nearly identical. just make sure that you use some teflon tape to seal everthing (the stuff that comes in the Yellow package). If your puting a line right to the gauge without and isolator, make sure that you get a good line that wont leak. perferably a braded stainless line. If it leaks you will have oil in you passenger compartment. no you dont have to bleed it, the air that is in the line will just compress to the same preasure as the oil and the gauge will read normal.

DA-MAX mentioned a kit that you can use to that hooks on to the oil filter location which sounds interesting. Or you can do like maxmaxima91 said.

Great Feedback. I will look into Da-max's kit. Thanks!
