I was planning on running that race as well until the weather panned out so junky... I was also looking forward to seeing your car make some passes!

Sounds like things are really moving along well with your setup, I'm excited to see the future of it as it turns into a race car. Keep up the great work matt.

Mardigras, not on their level yet - I'm stuck between classes in NDRA & NHRA right now, which is why I was looking at IDRC. The Pro Quick class was perfect for me... oh well. Looks like the future ones are west coast = too far. Do you know if they will reschedule, or do they just make up the points at the next event as if the event was rained out half way through?

The IDRC East Coast Nationals scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2006, was cancelled due to weather. Maryland Int'l Raceway and the Import Drag Racing Circuit (IDRC) are currently looking for an available date to reschedule this event. This process is not always immediate, as both the sanction and the track have crowded existing schedules, consideration must be taken for other import national events, and availability of the pros must be determined.

Once the rescheduled date has been confirmed, it will be posted on both mirdrag.com and importdrag.com (IDRC's website).

Dates open at MIR are 8/6, 9/17, 9/24, 10/29, 11/19

Thunderbird was definately worse but that is because that track is just a complete joke in every respect, they don't even have a website I don't think.
Just saying that if I were trying to pull say, a 1.3 60' the big NHRA tracks would be higher on my list than the backwoods redneck tracks (which I visit regularly lol).

~80# i think. Ive done a lot of weight reduction to compensate so I should have a net weight loss the next time I go to the track. The plastic summit racing seat is in too. That was ~11lbs and perhaps 5lbs for the steel bracked I fabed. I sit real low now, sorta cool. I'll put up pics of that as soon as I get the new steering wheel in too. The exhaust is gone from the flex pipe back so she sounds real mean! The 3" exhaust pipe, resinator and muffler had to be over 50lbs, not to mention the obvious power gain that I should see. Lastly I am mounting the 26x10 slicks onto 15x10 Weld Prostars and using rims screws and tubes so I can run really low PSI in the slicks. I previously had the 26x10s on 15x7s so their is now way that I was getting a full contact patch, this should get me back into the 1.7 60's and maybe 1.6s if the axles and trans can take the hard launching with juice and all

I meant how much does the car itself weigh?
It's good to see someone putting all this work into a maxima. By the sounds of things it looks like you might hit 10s if it all goes well and you get those 60' times down. I'd consider building a nice turbo VQ maxima, but I have my turbo golf to worry about for now

Going from a 7" wheel to a 10" should certainly help you.

Just curious, how streetable is the car now? How often do you drive it on the street? What sort of tires do you regularly use when you street drive it?

Streetable... Well she is street able with plates and insurance and an emissions waver. But I'm not going to be taking my mom out to lunch on Sunday in it. More or less its a Friday night special. I wouldn't think twice to put the back seat in and strap my kids in their booster seats and cruise around a bit on a weekend. She rolls on 275x45/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials up front and Pilot Sports in the rear on SSR Comps. My work is 38 miles one way and I do outside sales now so I sometimes do 1000 miles a week, I use a Saturn SL1 for that. Their is a track sort of near my work that I have never been to and they do a regular Friday night test and tune. My plan was to get the ET Street Radials and drive the car in to work on Friday and then to the track from work. I have AAA and the 100 mile towing option so no worries. I would use this to prep for the special events at MIR or wherever I can get a trailer ride to and go with the slicks on and suspension prepped and filled with 100oct. I have really come to hate lugging a jack and tires to the track. If the ET Streets hook as good as I think they will I should be happy. My first Friday night thing should be this weekend. I'm sure they will look at me funny with the roll bar, harness, fire jacket and all in a Maxima, but they will get it after my first few runs

I thought for a 4 point bar to be nhra legal the back down tubes needed to be straight. Also is there reason you had the seam on the hrew tubing facing back? Looks great though.

Not sure about the rear bars needing to be straight. Ive seen lots of NHRA legal kits with bent rear runners. I know that 4 points are not legal though, must be 5 or 6 point.

I dont understand your second question?

if you are running the MT drag radials they will dead hook at the track. I've seen cars pull better 60's on them than on full out MT slicks. Good luck and I hope you can make a full out pass without any bugs holding it back.

Good luck Mardi - will be looking forward to seeing your results, especially on the 60ft as I'm considering switching wheels/tires also.

Get it on video if you can.
