Supercharging Shopping List

hey guys. well ive finally made up my mind. after long debate on a new car or fixing the max, i think ive finally decided. Why not just keep the max, and do what i want with it. it would be way more to get rid of it, get new insurance, and then have to make payments on top of that. Plus the girlfriends approved on the move to FI

What im going to do is make up a little budget sheet in excel so I can see a total and print it out. From looking over in the Stickys I basically need these things:

Mattys Kit
V1 or V2 blower (preferably V1)
Pulley
Vortech FMU
BOV
Blower Belt
Charge Pipe
Gas Sender Seal
Coolant Line
Crankcase breather
Pancake filter
5/32 Vacuum T
Fuel Hose
intank fuel pump or adjustable FPR
Boost gauge
EU
Small and large hose clamps
Power steering lines

Next, what is the most appropriate size pulley to run on basically stock interals. I wouldnt mind upgrading to get to a smaller pulley. I guess it would be easier to tell you what kind of power in looking for; around 300whp would be good to start with

My girlfriend is just as much into this as I am. She wants to help out on the install which may be a good and bad thing. How long would the install take to do properly and clean?

Ive read over the stickys, and read tons of thread but I would also like you all to rag on me a little and help me with my specific situation. Obviously I dont know nearly as much as you all, but im willing to read and learn! My last concern is boosting with 158k miles. Would this case a problem? Ive been thinkin about it and it seems that it would be easier to install it on the current motor, get it tuned and if something does do wrong with it, it wouldnt hurt the new motor when I drop one in.

Well please, and comments, concerns, suggestion, or friendly flaming is welcome.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the Boost boat. About your motor having 158K what i would change is the timing chain cover gasket before you install the blower. It's the issue ive had ever since I installed mine. If you have given proper maintenance to your motor i wouldnt worry about the miles on it. I boosted mine @ 160,000 and runs like a beast.

Mattys Kit $1260
V1 or V2 blower (preferably V1) $500-$700
Pulley $30
Vortech FMU $45
BOV $120
Blower Belt Good Year $40
Charge Pipe Custom $100
Gas Sender Seal $11
Coolant Line $5
Crankcase breather $6
Pancake filter $30
5/32 Vacuum T $1
Fuel Hose $6
intank fuel pump or adjustable FPR---You'll want Both--Walbro $115, FPR $100
Boost gauge $40
EU $500 used---$625 New
Small and large hose clamps $40 T-clamps
Power steering lines $10

You also forgot the SS Feed line so the figure below will be a little low. Alot of the prices I gave you above are top quality parts. Cheaper prices can be found of course.

Total: $2559
Total with Used Emanage Ultimate and NO FMU: $3014

For the pulley, thats totally up to you. I would recommend like a 3.33 or a 3.25 pulley to start off. Give you good power while your still new.
As for the time to install. Thats totally up to you in this instance. I always take longer than normal for installing things cause I want it done properly and I want to learn while I go. Usually a weekend will suffice as long as you have everything and dont run into problems.

PM me if your serious about Boosting. Now is the time to put a deposit down on a kit while they are still available.

i would just skip the pancake filter and get a cai instead. I'm using the bigger pancake filter and that thing gets beat up so bad. There is not really much room for the filter in that little corner. Plus the filter never stays on the blower because of the different id and blower outlet. Just get a cai and make things easier.

I'm not going to call matty a liar or anything. I think he is being truthful and I like both his work and him. However. It is POSSIBLE that buying a whole kit will cost you less. The main component that can end up costing WAY more than anticipated is the blower. I got lucky and found an ebay seller who failed to sell his blower to another buyer for like $850 or so. He agreed to sell to me for $700- you may not be so lucky. You may also fail to find the other more expensive parts (the BOV, FMU, and fuel pump) at the prices given. It's not impossible to find these things at these prices at all. But you definitely won't do so in a short time frame (say, 1-2 weeks). You may be able to do even better than the prices given below if your parts-gathering process is several months.

my 0.02---> But matty gets my

The BOV, FMU, and Fuel Pump are readily available items found on alot of different performance websites. Those prices given are pretty much accurate for those parts. I actually got my pump for $90 new, BOV was $125 New, and my FMU was cheap on ebay. (those vortech units are available on ebay alot).

I never said this is something youll be able to do in a weekend but I do believe its alot better than buying a used kit outright, because you can build the kit EXACTLY how you want and not how someone else wanted it. In my mind, thats better by far.
