Cheap 1 1/2" mechanical fuel pressure gauges

Be careful setting your fuel pressure with cheap guages. I went thru 2 cheapos and both were off between 5 and 6 lbs.
I finally bought an autometer 2 1/16" mechanical gauge and it works great.
Of course the gauge is under the hood.

I bought my gauge to make sure I was set at the stock 36psi I should be at. Then I use it so I can see changes with my Nismo FPR.

My gauge is the cheap one from Summit. It looks like a nice unit. Which cheap ones did you get? Sunpro at AutoZone?

Here's my setup so I can put the gauge inbetween the wiper and the windshield:

I'll be honest I don't remember the brand but I bought it at national auto parts on charleston and paid about $17.00. It was 5 lbs off!

The one I got is liquid-filled and seems very nice. Here's a link for anybody else that is curious about mechanical FP gauges.

Summit Part #: SUM-800199

But, I've been doing well! Your name has been coming up in a lot of threads in the past year. You need to invest in some 22x8x15 Mickey Thompson slicks and get that car to the track. I'd love to see some good track times from you.

I just bought an Aeromotive billet FPR and Aeromotive underhood FP gauge, it plugs right into one of the ports on the FPR. FPR was $120 and gauge was $25.

Do these mechanical gauges have peak memory? How do you guys monitor them from inside the cabin?

I don't plan on using mine to monitor anything, fuel pressure is fairly useless as a parameter to monitor in my opinion, there are much more important things. Coolant temp, pressure, boost, air fuel, EGT. If I were running extremely high fuel pressure like some people do then maybe it would be more useful, but if I were doing that I'd have more important things to worry about (like changing my setup, because having extremely high fuel pressure ain't good). I only plan on using it to set my base fuel pressure, or for a diagnostic tool if my car won't start/idle/etc.

Kinda OT question, would anyone know the thread size and pitch for the SARD FPR? Im trying to buy a gauge that would mount directly on the FPR, but can't find any info on that..

Nealoc187,

The last time I went to JWT Jim turned up my fuel pressure to 56 lbs when running WOT with the SC. (342 fwhp). I'll try this 56 lb pressure with the
N20 when I get a chance.
In vegas I turn the fuel press. down to 44 lbs for regular driving and gas savings.

I did remove the oem FPG and now I use a nismo FPG with 6 an fittings. I also removed the return fuel rail and had a 6 an fitting welded here. so I have 3/8" socketless hose under the hood and 3/8 aluminum lines back to the fuel tank but I haven't dropped the tank to finish the full 3/8 line. I found a 6an to 5/16 push on barb to finish this connection . This oddball conversion piece is for fords because they too have 5/16" fuel lines

I really do wonder how much more fuel this gives me!
