Over on the HybridZ forum someone was saying that a guy bought some of those knockoffs like from SS Autochrome and took them apart to compare to the real deal apart. They claimed all of the innards were identical so they believe there's a chance the places in China that are making the real ones are probably making others to sell as knockoffs... something along those lines.

Basically, they're saying the bov and wastegate knockoffs aren't bad. They still don't recommend getting the knockoff turbos though.

You get what you pay for. You want leaks, go ahead and get the knockoff. Research, research, research. It's been proven that the knockoffs are junk.

put it this way, you get waht you pay for. if you want to pay for a cheap turbo kit, you will get cheap results, you buy quality you can expect the part to work how its supposed to, not to mention a reputable company that will back there products... you are already going to invest some amount of money, if you don't have the money to do it right, don't do it...

The guys at Grmotorsports.com seem to do pretty well with $2000. Just wait untill you see my budget for my s13....(VQ30DETT...) Of coruse that takes skill not every one can do it. But for smaller parts like BOV's yea you get what you pay for. Go oem or go quality.
