VQ30DET pistons?

Does anyone have a part number, or source where I can find stock VQ30DET pistons? Also, is the compression height and wrist pin bore the same size as a VQ30DE piston?

Call Jim Wolfe Technology, they sell them. They are plug and play for the
VQ30DE. These pistons will drop the compression ratio from stock 10:1 to more boost friendly 9:1.
For our application there only needed for high turbo boost or supercharger and N2O combinations.

Nice.. I talked to Clark today.. he said that they feature anodized tops, and moly coated side skirts.. with beefier ring lands and skirts/pin area. I think I'll pick up a set..

How much would these run you? Are you getting aftermarket rods also?

Usually aftermarket rods are expensive and hard to come by for the VQ30DET.

I took the stock rods to a good machine shop where they were shot peened then reshaped and polished. This is more than adequate unless your looking for 600 FWHP or more!

I'm actually running a custom set of Eagles that I'm picking up from a fellow org member.. I'll be using the smaller rod journal VQ30DE crank.

The pistons are around 50.00 a piece..

Should go well with the 20 or so pounds of boost this engine will see..

He's asking about compression height, which is the distance from the wrist pin bore centerline to the crown deck. I'll go out on a limb here and say it's probably it's the same as DE pistons.

There was talk about the strength of all maxima trannies awhile back... I think SR20DEN or someone posted about that...

but from recollections, the 5spd could only handle more than a little more than stock power output.

I don't understand your question. If the 2 pistons are plug and play what difference the distance from the wrist pin bore centerline to the crown deck make?

I asked if the compression height was the same as a DE, because I was concerned that the VQ30DET possibly used a larger wrist pin, or longer rod, which would affect the ability to use these with VQ30DE rods.. and I think he believed that you confused compression ratio with compression height.

I took screencaps of the VQ30DET piston part numbers in Nisan FAST:

acemann.shutterfly.com

The last part number of the group is for the .20 oversize service piston. I sent a parts request for some standard size pistons just to get an idea of price and availabililty. I can get any part number for the RWD VQDE and DET

If you look at the stickies in this section, there is a thread that Neal started about some stronger aftermarket gears for the Maxima 5 speed. Theres some really good information there and hope it helps.

For the record the rods have the same part numbers too, from DE to DET.

The DET rods are definitely different.. The journal is larger, and the rods have more material.

Words for the wise - don't change engine types once a car is selected in FAST. Apparently it doesn't really change the engine type unless you start an entirely new session. One more bug in a long list of bugs in this really buggy system! Being someone that tests this kind of stuff makes it all the more aggrivating!

Sorry about that - I'll edit the above post or delete it so no one is led astray. YES they do have different part numbers. Thanks for the catch

Double-checked the DET piston part numbers though and they are correct.
