Tell me about it. Everyone around here goes with Lou's Custom Exhaust, but it is all crush bent crap. I found a shop that I am going to visit next week and see what they can do. I'll keep you guys up to date as to how much it costs and everything.
#362
Yea, I didn't think about that. I mean I might as well try while the car is apart. I just have to find a place around here that does mandrel bends. Would a Meineke be able to help me out? Also, just to let you know, I am going with 2.5" intercooler piping. I am starting to mock that up today.
and 2.5 is ok.
#364
There is a place local to me that does 3" mandrel bending, but like I said before, it is pretty expensive. Just getting a couple little things done for some projects cost me a few hundred bucks. I would think a full intercooler setup would probably run between $5-600 for for the piping.

I bought the basics of the kit and was planning on improving on the flaws of the kit, but I am moving on. I have the manifold, the pipe that connects the rear manifold to the front manifold, the downpipe, and front motor mount you need with this kit. I paid $600 plus shipping for these parts. I am looking to get $400 plus shipping, but price is negotiable. I just want to move this. I really believe that the kit can work quite effectively if done right. The main problem that I see with the kit is the downpipe, because it is only 2". There are only 4 bends in it so you could buy the bends in 3" and have an exhaust shop weld it up for you. As far as turbo selection goes, the biggest turbo you can go with is a GT3076R with the T25 flange. Adapter flanges will not work on this manifold, but there is a GT3076R made with a T25 flange. Also, you will need to buy a turbo elbow. I have test fit and a 3" turbo elbow made for the 240sx will work. Then you need oil and water lines and drain for the turbo, intercooler and piping, and some sort of engine management to finish the kit off. Call me with any questions at 774-313-7191 or PM me.
Here is a pic of the manifold:

Wow that thing is crazy looking! Now which side does this mount to the front or back side? And is that where the down pipe bolts up? If the down-pipe bolts up there you could just open it up to 3" just a little after it s bolted on. Mine down pipe on my sentra bolts up to a 2.5" flange, but opens up to a 3" pipe and it works great!
This mounts to the front of the engine. There is a custom motor mount that comes with the kit that allows you enough room for the turbo. I waited over 3 months to get the motor mount. If you look at the picture the manifold is actually upside down. The left side is where the connection pipe from the rear manifold connects and the turbo connects to the other side. When you mount it on the car, the turbo is actually on the left and the connection pipe on the right. You can a 3" downpipe right from the turbo. There is room there for it.

am i the only one who thinks this kit isn't worth the $$$?
the piping is too small...
the turbo is too small...i mean maybe with a GT3076R with the T25 flange it would be ok...
and didn't you not hit full boost untill really late?
sorry to be a skeptic but i'd do a rmt before i bought this kit which needs alot of modification...cheaper, easier, and higher HP...

Yea, I remember somewhere in this thread doc saying something setting boost onset or something like that with that controller they have with the kit. I figured that was what you were thinking about that. I really believe that the GT3076R with all of the piping would be perfect with this kit.

if you dont feel torgus its worth the money than dont buy it, . its Ok no one is telling you its the holy grail of turbo kits. I just simply found that it was a great kit in my opinion and I wanted to share my knowledge with this kit to help others get around the snags, I always was in boost because I tweaked the kit and a/f mixtures myself. sometimes bigger isnt always better turbo wise, but the more efficient you make it, the better which is what all this thread is about. truthfully you would have to have had experienced my car to know for sure if it was a great kit or not. I just chose to stand out in the crowd. and Hey if you know that a RMT is better by all means go for it. nobody will be stopping you. Best of luck to you torgus I am sure you will be satisfied with whatever you do.

I think you all have some great suggestions here. Perhaps one of you should try and get sponsored by turbospecialties and let them know what upgrades are needed to make it a better kit. It works to both of your benefits use my name if you have to I have repore with doug adams there, mention maxima.org they called me after the thread reached 10.000 hits, see what you can do, you never know.

I have to say that that setup with a GT30 would be a great, affordable street setup. It would make decent power, you can use the "cheap" route of this manifold and piping, it's easy to install, nothing custom really...

Well hopefully I can get this thing pieced together and finished up in the next few months. We'll see what results I get and maybe persuade Torgus to put one on his 3.5.

I just have to rant, so far I've ran into the following problems, some have been dealt with & some haven't:
Turbo manifold wouldn't fit over studs, had to slightly enlarge all the holes.
No manifold nuts, I geuss they expect you to use the stock ones, which will not work on 75% of them, finding locally m10 X 1.25 nuts with no flange was a nightmare.
Wastegate actuator bracket absolutely WILL NOT clear the motormount bracket. Must adjust wastegate actuator arm outwards & then make custom bracket.
Somebody stripped out a compressor housing bolt on this turbo and thought red loctite + finger tight would work, geuss what, it didn't.
Compressor housing hits motor mount bracket.
Motor mount hits crossmember.
Motor mount hit oil or coolant line, this was so easy to deal with though it's almost not worth mentioning.
Oil return hits motor mount bracket.
Motor mount doesn't line up for shlt, requiring spacers behind the motor mount bracket, which complicates the compressor housing to motor mount bracket and wastegate actuator clearance even more.
To the guy from Turbo specialties who is monitoring this thread, please do the following if you could:
1, figure out some production tolerances & stick to them.
2, improve your quality control.
3, Get on craigslist or contact a few salvage yards and buy the most worthless peice of crap 4th gen maxima you can find, it doesn't even have to run & drive, just make sure it isn't totalled. Rip the front manifold, crossmember, front mount, etc off of it and let it hang around. Each time you make a kit, walk out back to the mule and give everything a quick test fit. Don't worry about scrathing parts, I'd rather buy scratched up parts then ones that don't fit.
4, charge another $500/kit if you have to in order to make the above happen. I think almost anyone would rather pay $500 than have to deal with all of this. Besides, it looks bad, I'm *****ing and yet I'm making money off of this, and the car isn't even near completion.
Also, since I'd hate to just complain complain complain without mentioning some positive stuff: So far I have been very impressed with the completeness of this kit.

I am bumping this back up! Just finished having this kit installed. There were a lot of changes made to the kit. I am running a GT3071R with a custom 3" downpipe. Right now I have an FMU for tuning, but will be installing an Emanage and 440cc injectors in the future. The MAF has been moved to the charged side as well.
I do not have dyno numbers, but I will have some by next week. Right now I have an open downpipe so I need to get that finished up as the car is insanely loud. Car is running 7 psi and feels really good. I definately feel that it is making way more power than what Doc dynoed when he installed the kit.
I want to thank Kevin (KRRZ350) of Goodwin Motorsports for taking care of the install. He got it done even though there were numerous issues and the fabrication of the downpipe is top notch. The only thing is that if you run a 3" downpipe you will not retain your A/C.
Here are some pics. I will post more when I get a chance. I took these quickly as I was running out of daylight.

So basically the kit has to have a ton of changes made to make it even work...
Glad you had someone like KRRZ to make the changes necessary. Sorry you had to go through a bunch of crap though, that sucks.
