Im going supercharged soon, was curious if those maximas out there if you continue your regular drain intervals with synthetic at 3k or 7k etc. Also for your tranny to do you still follow Oem recommended drain intervals.

Its Infiniti I 30 99, Auto Tranny.

For motor oil, 3k. For tranny, 30k. That's what I do anyway.

I do about 2500 on Synthtic but thats cause I dont drive my car all that much...about 150-200 miles a week

There is no need to change oil every 3,000. 5,000 is fine. It's been proven over and over with lab tests (wether you're SCed or not).

Auto tranny fluid drain and refill, filter change, new gasket, clean pan and magnets - technically every 30,000 miles but for some of us, that's 3 or more years. It's fairly cheap and easy so I would suggest changing it at 18-24 months if that comes before your 30,000 miles.

In a nutshell, there is no need to reduce your service intervals with an SC. Stick to the schedule you had previous to the SC. You might consider an engine oil cooler and a transmission cooler, but not required.

I agreed with post 4. Oil changing intervals are getting larger, but these damn oil filters still need to be changed.

The only real way to know is to test your oil. Get a sample out to Blackstone Labs and have it tested. FI cars are usually harder on oil than NA cars just because the temps at loads are higher. Also, oil does work in the SC as a cooling agent, if I am not mistaken. So, it does do more than just lubricate. I'd say do the first oil change at 3K, test the oil and if it comes back as fine, extend the drain interval to 5K and if you're really curious, test again.

The key is to pick the right viscosity and use quality lube that will hold up to the punishment. Some oils are better than others but I'd rather not get into that. Everybody's got their own favorite.
