Z32 MAF question

I am going to put the Z32 MAF on my car in the next few weeks, and I want to make sure I am doing it right. I read Ian's write up about having the plug pointing towards the battery. Is this really the only way to run this MAF? I currently have stock sized piping. I may do 3" but I was not planning on doing it right now. So in order to run the Z32 MAF it sounds like I am going to need to cut my charge piping and turn the mounting point until I can mount the MAF with the plug facing the battery?

If I do have to switch to 3" piping with no flange on the end does anyone have a parts list as to which parts to get? Thanks for any help. Hopefully my car will be running with a tune some time soon.

Simply put it on and see if its working.

Some need it to be rotated, some don't.

I ran the Z32 MAF in the normal position for a while with no issues. Once I went down to the 2.87 pulley I began to have some surging issues. I then rotated it and its been fine ever since.

not at that time, I do now though. I simply cut it at the mounting flange for the MAF on the Stillen charge pipe and rotated it using a coupler to reattach it.

okay, that's the same thing I was thinking of doing.

Where did you get your 3" piping and what sizes did you order?

I purchased some from Slamd98 and the rest I got from Ebay. Im running the relocated charge pipe with it routing through the front bumper. Same way Stephen Max and Slammed did theirs.

anybody do this to their 5th gen as of recent? If you are boosted and did this, did you notice any performance gains?

I would consider doing only for the sake that it improves performance beit acceleration or overall better feel so to speak.........

oh, I am sure there are lots of different ways to get 3" pipe that will work, I was just asking to see if there were certian lengths/bends of pipe we can buy that will be efficient and work.
