From the looks of it your going with a reverse y-pipe setup. Your going to need some straight piping as well. Are you going to be doing the welding yourself? Are you going to mig or tig weld it. Are those the actual pipes you have?

yes im doing a reverse feed y pipe. I'm going to buy the straight pipes at my local exhaust shop. I'm going to tack weld everything myself and send it out to be mig welded. And yes these are the actual pipes that I have.

Something to consider is buying the same materials. If you plan on using a used ypipe, then you should have either gotten all mild or aluminized piping. You have a stainless steel flex section, and what looks to be two stainless 90 degree bends. So you could be dealing with three different types of metals(although the aluminized is just mild with a coating), if this is the case you going to have to get the pipes tig welded.

autometer ultra lite 20 psi boost gauge

autometer ultra lite 100 psi oil pressure gauge

progress on intercooler piping

all the couplers are going to get replaced with red ones. and also of the couplers that you see are going to be removed and the pipes are going to be welded to reduce the number of couplers in the system.

the 90 degree pipe you see on the left I have to cut it to lower it a few inches and the pipe running across the engine bay that isn't the exact location that it is going to be in.

I made the mounting bracket for the turbo today. It bolts to the turbo and then its going to get bolted to the frame rail. Then I'm going to use angle iron and weld it to the bracket and then bolt the other end to the frame. And of course I'm going to powder coat everything.

you and streetz' RMT's keep me wanting to do a setup like this for my max. Nitrous is one thing, but this to me just seems to be more fun (i like challenges).

One question though, wouldn't you want the turbo to be mounted to the exhaust through hangers instead of to the frame rails? The exhaust is going to move some durring acceleration, cornering, etc. Wouldn't locking down one end of the exhaust cause stress on the other bolts and mounting points along the rest of the exhaust all the way to the motor? IDK, it might be fine, just wondering.

He's doing front mount turbo meng. You can tell by the picture showing the intake tubing routing in the engine bay (along with the many ricer stickers on the hood)

Find a place where you can mount it to the motor. I used the tranny mount, and haven't had a problem with cracking a weld yet. Just get some flat stock(1/8"), measure the width of the two bolt holes drill, grab another piece of flat stock, weld from the piece with two holes in it to mate up with the turbo mounting flange like this

This way also eliminates the possibility of messing up the threads, or shearing off a bolt(extreme) in the compressor housing.

Im talking about the way your going to brace your turbo/feedpipe. If you put it on a solid mount there is a very good chance of you cracking a weld. If you hit a dip in the road, you will mess up the bolts going into the compressor housing. You should really rethink the way your going to brace it before messing up your hard work.

I finally finished the turbo mounting bracket. I just have to powder coat it. Now that the turbo is mounted in it's final locate I can finish the intercooler piping. I also have all the pre bent pipes for the turbo feed pipe and down pipe. Some time this week or next week I'll make the turbo feed pipe and down pipe.

Have the ebay turbos improved in quality in recent years? I remember researching a while back and the verdict wasn't too good. Some folks ran then for a while with no problem while others looked like they were glued together!

Looks good man. Hey i got a question, that sandwhich plate thing. Is that only for the feed line? Or can it be used for the feed/return line? Reason im asking is beause theres 3 ports, 1 i can put an oil pressure gauge, one for the feed line, and perhaps one for the return? I dont know if it would work like that but im wondering if it would?

no the sandwich plate can only be used for the oil feed, oil pressure gauge and a oil temp gauge. You don't want to use it for oil return.

I'm curious to see how your going to route the feed and exhaust pipe with the turbo facing the way it is.

Very good build... Do I see solenoids??N2O addict...lol
