Considering the purchase of a SC setup and..

..was wondering what I'd be up against after install. Was hoping that some of you knowledgable guys could fill a brother in on whats involved as far as tuning for proper a/f mix, etc. Im pretty much a bolt-on and remove and replace kind of guy.. I understand how boost works in principal. I am more versed in 'upgrading' cars that came with boost from the factory.. but never got involved with ADDING boost.
The kit that I am interested in is '100% complete'. The setup includes a 3.25" pulley, which is good for 9psi, if I understand correctly. It would be installed in a 96 Max, typical VQ30DE motor, with 168k and bone-stock internals. The car is a 5spd. I have a PR intake, y-pipe, greddy sp2 catback, Technosquare ECU, all installed. I have a MEVI ready to be installed.
Upon tightening the last bolt on this install, what will I be looking at for tuning? Adjustment to the FMU only? Will it REQUIRE a SAFC or eManage? Any help offered is appreciated.. I am new to boost, but eager to learn. Thanks!

If you can swing it Emamage ultimate is the best tunning device you can come by but you can get by on a SAFCII. I am sing them on my 2 boosted cars. You will want a wideband o2. If you do get emanage there is no need to be able to datalog but if you dont you need one to datalog.
A fmu is not really needed unless you plan to run stock injectors.

With the 3.125 pulley, you won't have to tune a thing. Bolt it up and go!! Your A/F won't exactly be ideal, but it will be within an exceptable range IMO.

Now if you want to play it 100% safe and extract a little more power, then add an AFC and a wideband and learn how to tune with that first. Save the Emanage for latter.

Your stock injectors will be fine. Use an FMU with the standard 8:1 disc

Yup. You may want to remove the Technosquare ECU too to make sure that you're not adding too much timing.

Yeah, good catch. The Technosquare ECU will have to go if you become boosted.

Great info guys.. thanks! Gotta lose the TS ECU though.. I gotta drop that ECU for any boost I add to the car, huh? I realized it had to go under nitrous, didnt realize that s/cing required its removal too.. just go back to stock ecu? or JWT tuned for boost?

Yea when boosting it's better to retard timing then to advance it. I would sell the TS and just get a vafc, and a wideband and your good to go. 9lbs doesn't really require you to get the JWT ecu, like everyone said, AFC and your good to go!
