Some Black Smoke

Start-up is perfect, no type of smoke comes out. Driving around normal is fine as well. If I get on it and roll through the gears I notice if I look in my rear view I can see a bit of black smoke during acceleration. I only notice this at night obviously because of the headlights behind me. During the day, theres no way to notice it....Its not THAT bad...If Im at like 80 in 5th gear and I punch it, thats when I notice it as well...

I have about 20-25K miles one my motor now and I burn ZERO oil. Im thinking this is just a bit of un-burnt fuel, and also there is NO cat on the car. My a/f when this happens is just fine. Never really dips rich unless its at the floor and im building boost.

Im probably just being over paranoid, but I wanted to see what you guys think.

Thanks

Yea. V2-T-Trim w/2.87 pulley, 555cc Injectors, Z32 MAF, Pathy TB, FMIC, Full 3" exhaust...and alot of other fun stuff.
Dont get me wrong, its not like a huge PLUME of smoke, but it is noticable, and its not only full throttle...it happens with a partial throttle if im cruizing.

Well usually black smoke is unburnt fuel. Perhaps, it just momentarily puffs out a nice plume of black smoke because you go rich for a small amount of time.

Is it just momentary, or is it constantly coming out as your getting on it hard?

I had those problems too, it was all in the tune. It is also caused by the motor pulling timing due to detonation........if you look at my dyno vids you can see the black smoke up top due to the timing being pulled by the ecu and also because of the car running rich. Maybe put in a new knock sensor, or run a ground to it. The meth also helped me get rid of the puffs of black smoke.

When I had my 5th gen piping and nailed it, it was even worse......looked like a diesel truck just launched.

Matty what are your target AFRs???? I get that when i get off the line and noticed on the datalog that the AFR ratios dip momentarily when i yank off the throttle but they soon stabilize then no more smoke.

does the supercharger build boost faster with that 2.87 pulley on it then lets say like a 3.33?

Technically speaking, the term "building boost" is related to a turbo, but I know what you mean.

To answer your question, yes.
