Anyone here ever used a southbend clutch?
Well im in the market for a new clutch since I have upgraded my old setup. (Well whole new setup really) I don't know how much power it will make but I am using a HE351. I am looking to get high 300 to low 400. I am currently looking at southbend clutch they have 4 stages full face or 6 puck. They rate them in torque capacity. 3 is at 440 and 4 is at 475. I know I won't be at 475 but just don't know how well they hold up. Im just looking for a little input before I drop $500 on a new clutch. Also 91 Maxima VG. Anyone got any advice?

I use to have a southbend in my 94 supra turbo. It was rated at 550 rwtq. I was pushing about 500 hp and 430 tq to the ground with no problems. The thing drove like stock, with hardly any difference in pedal pressure. I would say southbend is very accurate on their tq figures and I had very good dealings with them.
Good luck with your choice, hope it helps.

I just installed one with my VQ35 swap, but I am no longer boosted. I have the stage 3 clutch. Pedal feels like stock, and I have zero chatter. I haven't quite reached 500 miles, yet, so I have not tried beating on it. I did roll into full throttle in first yesterday and lit up both tires with no slippage (quiafe ftw). When I called and spoke with them several months ago, they said they could make a pressure plate with higher clamping force, and that is what they recommended for a boosted application. If I remember correctly, there was no extra charge. So far I am happy with it, we'll see how it does at the track though.
It is a reworked Excedy clutch:

maxmaxima91 has one in his 91vg turbo, the first one he had slipped badly at the track, not sure which model it was, but they gave him a more aggressive one and it holds up fine to his 400+ lbft of tq.
