That is really lean. Don't get in boost too much before you get those injectors imo!

You finally did it! Pictures of your turbo setup would be great. O and I have a set of 440cc injectors. You need them badly.

lol, well here's the fun part... i was enjoying it for about 4days like that before i found out it was that lean.. i had NO idea i was making that much power so didnt think they were maxed out. Got 440ccs in now and the car is between 10.5-11.0 WOT.. too rich now. i want around a 11.8-12.0.

Any who it keeps breaking up around 3500-5000 then clears up and burns thru 3rd and half of 4th gear.. was on the way home...cruising.. got onto a little bit...... MBC=FAIL, no tune=FAIL, oil leaking past cylinder 3 spark plug gourmet=FAIL.. eased on it in 3rd.. built up to about 6-7psi..coupler blows off..i hear a noise......connecting rod is doing a cha-cha-slide in my motor.....

im going with a EBC next.. my boost creeps TOOO much now with the MBC. i have the MBC alllll the way down. and the load screw 2turns from completely out of my WG and it still creeped to about 12-14psi... i guess the injectors helped with that or something.. Anywho. motor is under warranty.. should have the other DEK in by weds. then itll get a TUNE before my foot even touches the pedal.lol

i figure the car was between 400-440whp @ about 12-14psi before she pooped on the stock DEK
my words of wisdom.. EBC>MBC ..... too rich=FAIL as much as too lean.. TUNE is the key..

ahh, dont worry, i actually laughed when it blew.. its been a few motors since i was upset when it blew.. i get angry at broken trannys now.. the only part ill dislike is the weather outside it suppppper cold.. but atleast i can wrap the feedpipe now and fab up some solid motor mounts..

+1 on the tuning but ill admit when i was wrong and will say, i just couldnt resist it.. it feels soooooo good.. i mean loosing track in 4th with 255.35.18s up front is amazing..when i dynod at the supra meet.. the BPUs were like lol

but now that i got my itch for boost out the way.. i can hold off for a tune

That motor blew faster than I thought. Sorry to hear about it but you need to learn more about tuning and how to treat a turbo car. Don't take my tone as getting on you, I'm not. Most people run a 38mm wg but if you get on it alot you might want to go with a bigger one. A smaller wg actually helps boost creep because it is not bleeding off the exhaust fast enough. Were you in 5th gear when it blew? I know on the 350z site some of the engines blew when they hit 5th-6th gear. I try not to maintain much boost in 5th gear, but I'm not a track man, just daily driving. You can still get boost creep with an ebc because they can malfunction, I noticed the quicker you get on the gas the quicker the spike, so I don't stomp it like a mad man, especially untuned.

no offense taken.. i know how important a tune is and how to treat a turbo car..just had to try it..been waiting on boost for 3years.lol.. motors are just a dime a dozen to me. The statement about going to a bigger WG ill consider though. i do play from time to time. and still am learning little but little about cfm's, and important ish that i never would give .2cents about when i was N/A.

it blew off in 3rd though.. but i noticed at about 75-80mph in 4th or 5th.. if i dont ease into it, and just got WOT, it creeps and blow couplers.lol

but with the EBC, i plan to set it about 2-3psi lower then i want so if it spikes, it wont rape the motor again. i also do slow shifts now now i have power and boost, no need for fast shifting. so i baby the throttle cracks but just need the tune.

When is the new engine going in? You need to get that car to a track after it's tuned!

That would be awesome! Yeah you can use some of those boxes to set an ignition rev limiter (instead of fuel cut) and no lift shifting with boosted cars.

Good luck getting it together in time, the track meet Sunday should be the biggest maxima track meet since maxus!

wow. pretty cool. minus the blow up. What kind of MBC are you using? lower end ones seem to boost spike. I never had a problem with TurboXS or Hallmans.

Ummm, isn`t 12-14 psi a bit much for a stock motor. Mines dynoed at 9.5 psi. Its been a rule of thumb anything over 10 psi, watch out (on a stock motor). But I could be wrong. Good luck new one thou.

It depends on what turbocharger you're making that 10psi with, more than the actual pressure. What killed this engine was lack of fuel. I'd also guess he could use some way to control timing before it starts getting warm out again as well.

You live in Florida, right?

I bet you'd see huge benefits most of the year with water/meth injection. Set it up to only spray under boost and keep the tank topped off and you will be much less likely to detonate. Just throwing ideas for later!

Vq35 and vq30 is the difference. More than likely it's always tuning but even still it seems like vq35s are more picky than the 30. They seem to blow left and right on the 350z forums. It's rare for a vq30 to blow.
