Same here, I threw a rod on the stock 3.5 I put in within weeks. But it was already fkd from before. Trial and Error is what its all about, I abused the crap out of my 3.0, learned alot too.

You could just try and rebuild the 3.5. For some reason I missed the details of this being a 3.5, they seem to be kinda picky (the weak point being the rods). I would not recommend having no timing control on a 3.5 or even running a safc/vafc unless it is a bolt on s/c kit. You can run a safc/vafc if you have a J&S safeguard though. Hopefully you decide to put another motor or rebuild instead of getting rid of all the hard work you just did. Setbacks are part of this portion of the hobby.

Agree, it seems 3.5's are a little pickey with the tuning. I pinged alot on the 3.0, thats was my method of tuning lol, lean it till I could hear marbles then then richen it up a lil bit, with no timing control. Didnt give me issues, well i had to replace the headgasket because it leaked for like 2 years lol. eventually I think the rings went bad. I think with that form of tuning a 3.5 would have pop'd right away. Now I use the J&S and its the best investment I have ever made.

Oh crap no good. Do you know what caused it to open? I have been thinking of adding pins to my hood since I did some cutting of the support and the bracket that holds the locking mechanism to fit my tranny cooler.

i had gotten into a frontend accident last year, so i have a strong feeling that has something to do with it

well ive been fighting with this car ever since i put the dek in an 1 tps sensor and 1 coil later the car is running Stupid rich. my wb reads 10.0 at idle and the car is hard to start back up after it fully warms up, i heard it could be that i damaged my injector o-ring(s) when i pulled the out of the 3.5 LiM and put them in the dek LIM so iam going to order new O-rings and see where that puts me
