can i go on a 12 hr trip with my sc ?
im planning a trip from nc to fl here in the next month, am i gonna be ok on my sc setup? or should i take the belt off? id rather not if i dont have to. just wanna make sure its not a bad idea. the constant whine at 3.5k rpm cruising speed is probably gonna have me nervous

Now if you take off the belt, that means its going to still be getting oil, I dont think it a good idea for a SC to be getting oil without it spinning, miight hurt seals I think.
You'll be fine. Just make sure you take a 10mm and a 14mm wrench and a spare stock belt just in case (and any other tools you think you'll need should something happen). Even with my FPR issues I've been having the last month or so, I've still driven 5hrs to and from the mountains to Raleigh 3 times. No issues here in terms of supercharger reliability or belt wise.

I personally would just shell out $100 on a cheap rental or pay a friend to borrow a car.
You will be just fine. Dont remove crap! Take your toolbox with you, a spare Gatorback, change your oil before you roll and enjoy the trip. I drove my max when it was SC on long road trips and never never had an issue. You gotta know what you have and how you have it. I dont know why people are so afraid of blowers or panic. As long as you know what your doing in case something happends your straight, like belt snaps for example. I could remove my blower in 3 min from the motor change the belt in 5min and put it back in 5min. The damn drain hose is a PITA.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Florida eh? coming to visit me?
Seriously - there are tons of Supercharged cars out there that are daily driven, road tripped and never have a problem - carry a spare belt (for the supercharger - not for stock setup), some basic tools, and don't worry so much.
Enjoy the Ride
FYI - it's hot as hell down here right now, and the humidity makes it feel like an oven.

you shouldnt be hearing a whine at 3.5k unless what you mean by that is the blower sucking in air. if the kit has been installed for a while and proven to be reliable, go for it ! and you cant just take off the belt because your alternator will stop chargin. if its not too much of a hastle, i would go back to N/A for the sake of saving the miles on that blower and getting better MPG but sometimes its a headache to go through all that. is it a v1 or v2??

As for MPG, it won't change one bit unless he has a heavy foot.
Personally, I think the original question is a bit of nonsense. Driving 12 hours isn't going to increase the odds of the SC causing or having problems...

If the KS is in the same place as it is in the 97 Maxima then it can be done in 10 min... In fact 5 min. I have seen it done on my car in no lie, 5 min.
I did it on my 98 with my eyes closed. You must not have seen the engine bay on a 99 CA. Its a PITA to change that KS, just like on the DEK but for different reasons...... Post a picture and make his jaw drop James.
