MAF Delete Successful

I HAVE DONE IT!

I have been wanting to do this since for ever, alot of people keep messaging me in regards to this since I posted a thread about it.

I basically did exactly like Dandymax said on his awesome writeup, used the Excel surface chart, to smooth out the whole table. Still needs work but its awesome.

So .... do you need to have weather specific tunes .. or ... ? What is the reference (ambient) temp/pressure,

ARRRGH! IM JEALOUS! i need to do that when i get home but i got no clue about the dang map sensors and the maps yet. i still need to get the EU software and play around.

so did you have the maf still in place and just unplug it to do the initial tune? or did you get your table, completely remove it and then switch to map?

more details please! lol

As of right now I am not doing anything about temperature, eventually I will hook up the temp sensor.

Basically what i did is, log the voltage with the sampling table, went for a drive, floored it a few times. come back, fill in the rest of the table in excel using the the Surface chart to somewhat get it smooth. then copy that over to the Maf Output table and your done, oh, you can leave your maf hooked up so you can log and monitor the incoming voltage, that helps, right now mine is unplugged, but will hook it back up and log a few highway WOT runs, to compare my table to the input voltage of the maf. Its prob going to take a good week or so to get this perfect.

I just went WOT in 3rd gear, it got lean, so I made corrections right now. Once I have it perfect i'll post the table so everyone can see it. Im sure ya'll going to be PMing me for it anyway lol.

Something else I see, my timing is extremely low, at 9degree's at 4500 rpm and at WOT. I have to retorque the KS.

sounds good man! I was thinking the same thing about leaving the maf in for about a week for tuning on the fly... You using any formulas in excel? or just pluging numbers in where its a bit off?

and im guessing that your maps will be absolutely useless to me since your SC'd but ill definitely be buggen you for um for some cross reference!

also, for anybody who knows, do any iacv's have iat built in? or is that strictly a sensor only? maybe itd be worthwile to look into a swap if theres an iacv with iat built in? <--- someone school this noob!

in an ideal world, maf > map

but i've been through 3 mafs and we think his z32 maf is the reason his car is acting funny. it keeps more things constant to make it easier to tune

Wow excellent work man. Very impressive, this is only the third MAP conversion I've seen on any car.

Pretty awesome. Just I run nistune don't want to mess with it. Rather run a z32 and be done with it.

Congrats Streetz, you are making all kinds of history here on the org. I'm going to read up on the advantage of map over maf because I'm just running the stock maf but have it clamped at 3.30 volts or so and use the greddy map sensor to take care of the rest. I know all the rage is z32 maf in boost because it can measure more but you could clamp that too and run off the greddy map sensor in the higher ranges.

Thanx, just trynna do new things. Having a MAF really isnt that bad, but I just hate it man. In my case, mine fluctuated alot, perhaps due to turbulance or being old or something. I notice now without the MAF, it idles so much smoother. Now I dont have to worry about maxing it out either. I have seen 4.8v in previous logs, so not too far from maxing it (its a z32 maf).

sorry for the bump.

is temperature and elevation adjustment necessary since the air pressure by itself fluctuates proportionally?

Since I am in miami, we dont have extreme changes in temperature, but now that it is going to get slightly cooler i'll see how the AFR behaves, it might start leaning out slightly.
