Took the SC off yesterday..I have a quick question

Ok I removed the blower with the plate attached to it yesterday. It took about 2 hours by myself in the front driveway with just basic hand tools. Now I just need to remove the belt.

Anyway, on the back of the plate there are a few 7/32 hex screws and a few 8mm hex screws. Also on my V1 plate there is one bolt that looks like a huge phillips head screw....wtf is this thing?? I've never heard or seen anyone else mention a philips head screw on the back of the plate. If you do have this screw on the back of the plate can you please chime in and let me know how you removed it without stripping it out. I know the obvious answer is just use a big phillips head screw driver but I'm afraid it will just strip out and I'll be stuck.

it's def not normal. The previous owner must have stripped that allen bolt.
Also any tips to stop the SC pulley from spinning? I bought a strap wrench and it does nothing!

I was able to get the pulley and that messed up bolt out. I had to take it to a shop around the corner and hit it with an impact gun. But when I put the plate back onto the blower I didnt insert the 10MM bolt directly to the left and slightly behind the supercharger pulley first.

Do I need to install this bolt (M6x55M) into the plate prior to bolting the supercharger up with the belt and pulley installed? Here is a pic for reference. Yes, I ruined a SC pulley yesterday like an idiot.

My setup is V2, but I don't use that bolt at all.

By the way, I have an extra (stock Stillen) SC pulley you can have. PM me if you want it.

thanks for the info, I was searching through 7 year old posts to find out about that bolt and it looks like some people are using it and some aren't. I assume you never had any issues leaving it out? Thank you very much for the offer on the pulley and the info, I ordered one yesterday and it should be here Friday.

Yes, you need that bolt installed. If it wasn't needed, Stillen wouldn't have accounted for it...

haha yeah I was impatient last time and tried to force that bolt past that pulley like an idiot. By the time I realized the damage it was too late.

I finished it up today though. Got a fresh pulley and gatorback on it. I replaced two of the m6 bolts too and threw some locktite on all of those m6 bolts. The hardest part was getting the damn belt over the crank pulley..just lots of force and a little stretching and I got it on though. Started the car and let it idle for a min and its running real good. Thanks for the help fellas

quick update on my setup. So I haven't driven the car at all since I changed the belt and stuff I've been enjoying the new R32 I picked up last week. Anyway, last night I started it up and heard some belt squeal. I popped the hood and looked around with my flashlight and the belt was smoking/ burning and throwing rubber shavings all over the place which it was not doing at all when I was first testing things out in the driveway. Upon further inspection I think its the back side of the belt (not the ribbed side of the gatorback) that is smoking on the idler pulley. When I installed the idler pulley I put the washed on the plate side facing toward the engine. Maybe the pulley is too tight not allowing it to spin freely?
After doing some searching of posts from 04 I read somewhere that the washer should be on the bolt side and not the plate side...is this correct?? I'm pretty sure my setup has a V2 idler pulley but everything else is V1. Can anyone confirm that these two idler pulleys are assembled the same before giving me some advise?

Thanks so much, sorry to keep bringing this up!

I have a V1 plate thanks for the offer. It turns out the bearing in the dayco idler pulley is a bad. I took it off tried to grease the bearing and I put it back in. Does anyone know where to get replacement bearings for the dayco idler pulley?
