Boosted exhaust question - resonator or cut-out?
Guys,
I need to replace this raggedy old aftermarket gutted hi-flow cat. My setup consist of factory exhaust manifold, Stillen Y-pipe, gutted cheap cat, and Greddy Evo exhaust. I am running about 11 psi boost at 345 whp. The car is really only used at the track. I plan to add more boost and hp soon along with OBX headers.
The issue, do I go with a Megan resonator or run a cut-out??? I hear the Greddy is restrictive, but not looking to replace it anytime soon...
tks!

Well are you SC or turboed? You can just run a cutout on your downpipe if it's turboed. My cousin made 60 hp i believe with cutout open on his turbo car. If it's SC i'm sure you feel a few gains. It all depends if you get a cutout you still wanna have a quite exhaust for when the cutout is closed or cops are around etc

Use a cutout, I have always seen gains in 90% of maximas, and if your boosted your WILL see gain from it. With FI you want ZERO back pressure, a resonator will add pressure or resistance no matter how "straight through" it is. and if its for mostly track, even better.

I don't have much experience in this but from what I've seen on two cars, one being this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWITHJwhStY the cut-out didn't help. I'd still do it though. Must sound nice.
