Stock Driveshaft Axles OK for boost??
I have a 2002 Maxima and I'm considering a custom turbo kit being made for it. Plan on getting some eagle rods and some upgraded pistons. I wanted to know if anyone in here has had any problems with snapping or breaking axles with all the power that boosted cars make? I plant on making about 420-440ft-lbs of torque....don't want to ruin those axles. Just trying to put the feelers out there. I called this place called raxle and they only make a heavy duty axle for driver side ONLY for my year. Then he recommended this place called driveshaft shop......they custom make axles but I know that is going to be hella expensive.....

I currently have Raxles on my car, both are clanking like hell (I gotta send them in for rebuild/replacement), but yes, OEM axles should be fine. Raxles are supposed to be factory replacement, just that alot of guys have had good experience with them so they use them for heavy abuse. I got about that same power to mine, probably why they are making noise.
Some guys here have done some pretty damn good 60' numbers on slicks and I have never heard of a snapped axle. You'll be fine. btw i have eagle and pistons too, at 15-20psi 3.5

DAM!!! OK...I'm not going to boosting THAT much...probably like 10PSI maybe even 12 PSI. Right now I got a SPEC stage 2 clutch, which is an EXCELLENT daily driving clutch, says it will hold 390 ft-lbs...they have a stage 2+ that will hold 440ft-lbs, they say its just the same as the stage 2...but if I make more torque than that I have to go to stage 3 and I heard it was a little harsh on the engagement and I drive this car daily to work and back, grocery store, everywhere and I don't want to be annoyed with that harsh engagement! I think I will upgrade to stage 2+ and then leave it at that. I think you reach a point where you have too much power and the car is not streetable anymore because you have to add all this crap on to hold the power.

This is my main concern too... the transmission acting like a fuse.
BTW, if this is you daily, dont put a Damocles sword over your head by boosting above 10psi on a stock engine.
With a good turbine choice, the VQ yell's good numbers at 8-9psi.

I been turboed for about 5 years now with no problems. Still oem axles. I am using a stage 3 clutch by Clutchmaster and its held up just fine and very streetable. But then again I`m a measly 389 torque. lol

MEASLY??? LOLOL!! Yeh right. If 389 is measly then my 250ft-lbs is terrible...lol.
