Installing Aftermarket Radiator Slim Fans

Just received the slim fans. Has anyone installed slim fans and had them running without a manual switch(inside the car)and turning on at low and high speeds?

Found this thread, but it didnt really tell if it was successful with a relay or not. Anyone?

So how did you wire them, being that the OEM have 4 wires and the slim fans usually come with two?

My fans had 3 wires and they were power, ground and speed. I connected the speed wire to the high setting.

Mine only came with two. Anyone else? Would it be wrong to connect the two power cables from the OEM fans to the power cable on the Aftermarket, and the 2 grounds from the OEM to the ground on the Aftermarket. I guess what Im saying is connect the two wires into one and then connecting it to the Aftermarket, if that make sense. Do you guys forsee that causing any shorts or any other major issues.

Mine had 2 wires as well. I hooked up the high speed side for both. Just cut the extra wires and make sure they are sealed up so you do not short or have any wiring problems later.

The only thing I wonder about is if I hooked up the low speed instead, would they come on sooner then they do now.

Do hou experience any heating issues wired the way you have it? Is your vehicle forced induction?

At high speed, why would their be any heating issues? If they were on at low speed at all times then I could maybe see that happening, maybe.

I may be wrong, but im guessing the fans wont turn on until the engine reaches a certain temperature. i wanted to know if there was any issues with it waiting until it reached that point where the car turns on the fans at high speed. There has to be a reason why they turn on at low speed from stock. Just me wondering, though. Does anyone know the function of each wire on a 2000 Nissan Maxima? I found the functions of each wire on a 4th gen, but the colors are different.

The low speed fans come on earlier from what I understand. Aftermarket fans will run at full speed any time they turn on. If I were you, I would hook up to the low speed fans as long as they perform better than the stock ones. This way there is no need for the high speed to every be triggered.

At some point I plan on switching to the low speed to see if that makes any difference. My 4th gen is turbocharged and the coolant gauge sits just about the stock middle. This is due more so to the fact that I have too many sharp bends in my coolant pipes. As long as I have no air in the system the car does not over heat. Also, I have a 3.5" intercooler, than the a/c condensor, 2 trans coolers, and finally the radiator. This means the air has to get by everything else and still be cool enough to cool the radiator.

You would only be cooling half the radiator then and the stock system cools the full radiator. You would run into cooling issues for sure with only one fan working.

Funny I just ordered slim fans too for my mishimoto radiator and they only have 2 wires as well. I was looking at the stock connector and it has 4 wires and I'm wondering what about the other 2?? I talked to my builder because they are installing the thing and they said dont worry they know how to connect them. I'm still curious...you have any pics of how you connected that?

I dont have pics right now... Its all taped up and zip tied away from eye sight. But pretty much left two of the wires unplugged. The fans come on the high speed, it hasn't over heated since.
