Need a little help

I have two issues right now. Well, one real issue since the other is torque steer at 80 mph.

So the real issue is that right as I start to see boost, the A/F gauges leans out and car starts to buck and backfire. It is only doing this at part throttle as I ease into the pedal. Once I get over 5 ish psi it is fine and the A/F returns to normal and it pull hard to 13 psi. Car shows no codes that would cause this to happen and no misfires either. I had MAF code but cleared and I swapped out the MAF even a few coils just to be sure. Still have the same problem. Still no codes that explain this.

Also, the car was driven over 5k miles before this issue appeared.

Anyone else have any similiar issue that may be able to shed some light on this?

Details on the car

97 SE turbocharged (TO4R aka T67)
3.3L ish built motor
Built auto transmission
JWT ECU for now
Z32 MAF, 740cc injectors, walbro fuel pump

Ok, let me know what you guys got. Thanks in advance.

So anyone have any thoughts? I would have my Nissan master tech take a look but he retired some months back.

Thanks guys. Will look into both things. Plugs have 6k miles on them and would the vaccum leak show on the vac/boost boost? My gauge stays perfectly steady.

So, I worked on the car today and found what may be the issue.

I blew the custom intake manifold. I really did not expect that since I am not even running high boost. I have about a 2 inch tear in the sheetmetal so the car will be going to have a new one made from billet aluminum. Thanks for the help so far.

Man, I would think the car would run rich instead of the gauge leaning out as you described.

I was planning on having it re-done anyways since the it was not perfect in the first place.

I think it was running lean at low boost because as the air was being forced in it would start to leak out but once the engine had enough pressure and high enough rpm the leak was not as great. But we will see once I have the new one on there.
