Almost ready for spring!

Haven't been around for a long time, but I'm almost ready to put the old black car back on the road. Josh and others might remember I bought a huge AWIC a few years ago. Probably first guy to buy one, last guy to install. It is now actually IN the car!

^^^ old photo, just to show cooler. I'll post pics of the actual install later.

New(ish) mods include:

* Huge PWR AWIC
* Front mounted AWIC heat exchanger with 2 fans
* Bosch cobra water pump (for AWIC)
* J & S Safeguard
* 2.75" pulley
* Emanage w/ injector and ignition harnesses
* RC 440 injectors
* Custom charge pipe
* Custom CAI (modelled after Latinmax)
* Greddy BOV
* Lots of pretty, bright blue silicone hose

After tuning, I expect at LEAST 600 whp!! (just kidding!)

It actually wasn't that terribly hard to fit the big cooler - I just had to get off my lazy azz. I have a bit more futzing about and tuning to do, then prolly dyno in a month or so.

One mod I forgot - a new engine. Blew up the old one by running too much boost with no cooling, poor tune then a failed MAF.

I'm actually shooting for somewhere between 350 and 375 whp. I think that might be realistic with the current mods. We shall see.

I've got one of these boost limiter valves, currently set for a max of 8 psi.

Once everything is nice, safe and stable at 8 psi, I can start cranking it up. I think the maximum boost on a 2.75" pulley is around 12 psi, so it should make good power if it doesn't blow up (again).

Here are more pictures:

Barrel intercooler is supported by a bracket I welded up from some scrap laying around the garage.

There's an aluminum fluid cooler in front, with a couple of fans. Fans work off a rocker switch controlling two relays: Position 1 is pump only, position two is off, position 3 is fans and pump. Normal driving is pump only. The pump is attached to a frame rail under the car.

Washer bottle moved forward about 6" to make room for CAI inside fender / bumper.

The little gizmo to the left of the BOV is a boost limiter valve from 928 Motorsports. Maximum boost pressure can be dialed in, anything from 1 to 13 psi without changing pulleys. 13 PSI is the maximum for the pulley I have on right now.

Fluid reservoir is an overflow bottle from an autoparts store. GM, I think.

a little more info is herehttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/763858...axima/page-10/

Car has been back together for a couple of months, and running pretty well. The only thing visible with the hood closed is a little bit of blue hose.

So do you manually flip the switch for the fans? If you do I would consider a hobbs/boost activated switch.

I thought about that. I even have a pressure switch I could use (left over from the Stillen t-rex pump setup). When I investigated more, turns out it's best to have pump running all the time. Keep the water cool for when it's needed.

I don't usually use the fans - only if the weather is hot, and I'm in stop and go traffic or at a stop light. The fans do make the AC work better.

You don't want to rush these things

I can take a photo near the TB in the next day or two. What are you interested to see?

This is making me reconsider trying to stuff it between the rad and valvecover. Awesome.
