Moving phones, so office is in one place, phone is in another.

In any case, this looks like a promising little endeavor you've got going here. I need to take a ride in this warlock of a car now.

We appreciate the leg work, and I'm sure something positive will come of it. Like the rest of the vets on here, I've heard nothing but good thing primarily from the 3rd gens.

95 s14

I don't wanna hijack anyone's thread but I need advice. I'm putting my 3.5 from my crashed 97 into my s14. I have a 95 max ecu and wiring harness. It has nismo cams, fidanza flywheel, bolt ons etc. The max felt great, although it was short lived. What tuning route should I choose? I have a eu available but the rev limit is a concern. I plan on boosting in the future.
Thanks

4th gens with nistune.....sounds interesting. I was trying to get a Nistune board sometime back just because the level of adjustablity just ***** on anything we have available, complete control over all engine functions.

For those of you like me where my car has to be plugged up to pass inspection keep your stock ECU and EB/EU harness so you can get that thing past your emissions test. unless this is proven OBD2 state emissions test passable. Which i dont have high hopes for.

Most people forget about that because racecar, thanks for bringing it up for all the GReddy haters. Nistune is great and great for our community but I have emissions here.

We need by the minute updates once you've installed!!!
I'm jumping on this Nistune for sure if I hear positive feedback.

Invoice from Nistune says add 3% for international Paypal fee.

Did you all do this?
It doesn't show on the bottom total AUD amount, just at the top right of the page...

Little confused on that..

The 3% deal is on their invoice that they email to you.
I'm curious about the emissions codes as well..
I'm sure you can extend redline because they are copying my JWT ROM to it, but idk about the two step.
I know I get a USB consult cable, but I'm curious how the wideband connects as well.
I'll send them another email when I get a minute.

Edit: email sent for more answers.

Jwt can do a 2step but they want 275 for the setup. I've been thinking just getting a n2b wot box.

Also can you switch maps on the fly or do you have to burn chips or replace them each time.

I beat you to it.

1.How do we connect a wideband?

Connect your wideband unit into the laptop as per the instructions for that wideband, Nistune will then connect to it (as per the wideband section in our software document) via the PCs USB COM port assigned

2.Is a two step launch an option?

Not at this stage. I’ve only just got the ECU retunable so any additional major coding work for these features would need to be custom coded and will take time and require testing. I’m going to start with SR20 firstly and then work from there in regards to launch control etc

3.Can emission codes be turned off?

Emission codes cannot be filtered out like with pre-OBDII ECUs since there are no filter addresses in these later units

4.Can automatic transmission codes be turned off for no check engine light?*

Same with the AT codes. I would advise sourcing a MT ECU or we can try a MT program in the AT ECU and hope that it is compatible. Some ECUs don’t care whilst others exhibit problems like early rev cuts

5.Can the redline be extended?

Yes we can increase the rev limiter

If I'm reading the FAQ's right, you can swaps MAPs on the fly.

BAD news right now as far as I'm concerned:
I was told that he will not be accepting anymore orders until he receives feedback from the completed ECU's.

So if you receive your Nistun'ed ECU REPORT BACK TO NISTUNE ASAP to let them know if your having problems or not.

I need to

*I asked about the AT codes because they are doing me a huge favor and helping me while helping themselves by copying my JWT ECU~which is auto and I have been running in my manual~to my '96 manual ECU. **

**I was told since they are copying the JWT AT to the MT ECU that the MT ECU will have the same error codes I was having as if I was running the AT JWT ECU.

So I guess with the special circumstances of my ROM swap from ECU to ECU my CEL is just going to burn out soon. Lol

Definitely keeps us posted!!

I have a '95 manual ECU as well that I thought I was going to use for EU until this Nistune discovery.

I was going to drive around untuned on that while I waited for the '96's.

So it appears they are only doing the 95-96 ecu and not the 97-98 like jwt. Also they are treating the 95 ecu like a ob2 ecu since the car came with the plug till they get feedback from the ecu's they mailed out. Hope this works out and they can add the features I want to the 95 ecu

Glad I have a '96 JWT ECU that they are copying the ROM from then.
This is kinda crazy.
Hope it all works out, and thanks for the update!

95 and 96 both are setup on obd2. They cannot change the CEL or shut off any emission on them. I have a 95 production date of 11/94 and a 96 auto coming back from them. Should be here soon. Tracking shows it is in LAX. I am using them in my 97. They should work in 98 as well. The 99 would need to switch their fuel pump pin out for it to work. Also no 2 step or map switch for now.

Plugged in the ecu and went for a drive with my JWT program on it. Car runs pretty much as before but does feel like the driveability was better at part throttle and cruising. My idle and cruising a/f ratio are now dead on at 14.7 almost all the time. Again this should be just the copy of my old map. Oh well, I ain't complainning.

Here are pictures of the consult/usb harness. I have not tried to do anything with tuning yet.

Stock ecu got a copy of the JWT tune, if I'm not mistaken. But he can fine tune it with the nistune ecu. So he sent 2 ecu's to them.
