6th gen turbo?

Has anyone successfully turbo charged a 6th gen maxima. If so where and what model turbo? How much boost can the motor withstand ? Is it a healthy choice?

A turbo 6th gen would be a turbo 3.5L, so the same as the 02/03 maximas, besides the transmissions. Most people turbo the 6 speed manuals on the 02/03s. I have never heard of anyone turbocharging a 6th gen with the 5 speed automatic transmission though.

The 3.5 can usually handle 400whp with stock internals, but transmissions always beg the question. Seems most people run between 7 and 10 PSI to achieve that kind of power.

You have to do a lot of reading. Everyone does it differently. If you aren't fully committed to this car, it's a horrible idea because you have to custom build just about everything. It's all from scratch too. 5th gen support was low... 6th gen support is even more so.

Thanks man. Yeah I have the rare 6 speed 6th gen. I'm assuming I could go with the same as the precious generation and start off with a lower boost. Kinda hard to find things for such a rare car. I just now found literally one guy who sells short throws for the 6th gen manuals out of California.

Niice, his is the 5AT too.

I don't follow too much on the 6 speeds, but you can definitely handle reasonable boost on the 6 speed. There are people you can contact here for parts too. I realize more people cater to the 6 speeds than the autos, and I'm sure you can use a lot of the stuff the 5.5 gen guys use. If I can remember correctly from my friend's 06 Max, the crossmembers under the car between the 5th gen and 6gen are different, so that's something to keep in mind.
