Rim / Tires question

I called Sears today because they are having a sale on rims. I could pick up a set of 4 CHROME rims for 500$. I asked him to verify the tires size to see if he had it in stock. I said " I need 235/45/zr 17's ... So he looks in his book and says " Sir it says its not possible here to do that, biggest you can go on that car is a 16" rims" Now i know it isn't right. But for 17's is there any modifing of the wheel well so they fit?

Comments ?

You have to jack the car up an inch or two to get 17s under there...

but it can be done if you want it badly enough

Im running 18x8 w/40mm offset, tires now are 235/40/18, but the next set will be 245/40/18. No modification neccesary fo up to 19s. If you want 20s, the fender lip needs to be turned in a little bit
