Yea.... I know the bolt pattern for our cars is 5x114.3, for sure. That's why I didn't ask/mention it. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Hey, guys.... I'm going to put 255/35/20 on my wheels and the guy at discount tire said he's pretty sure it won't fit my car. I know playboy has said that it fits his car. But is there anyone else who has 255/35/20 on their cars? I'm going wider because there are many more selections going from 245/35/20 to 255/35/20.
edit: Is there anyone who has 20" wheels and 255/35/20 tires AND LOWERED? I plan on getting lowered with Tein's in the future, so I want to make sure that I get the right tires size.

Well then you need to search some more. I've seen 18-20" tires discussed MANY times. And the tire selection is more a function of keeping the overall diameter correct in conjunction to keeping them from rubbing. Just saying "20 rims" is not saying much because you haven't mentioned the offset. But at 255, you had better be pretty careful. Especially when it looks like you are using price as your size guide. And since you want to slap me, I guess you get to find all this information by yourself

Thanks for the heads up. I have searched around and found that there are only a handful of members who have 20". Sure there are a lot of people running 18" and 19", but 20" is quite rare. The biggest concern here is rubbing, I dont really care about keeping the overall diamater the same. Of course, I want to get it as close as the stock ones. The offset is 40 mm, as stated at the top of this thread, first post. Actually, I wasn't gonna slap you. I was kidding with you, and therefore the big smiley face next to the icon.

Info for you.
I have heard the rumor and seen a few 2002 Maxima's (and I35's) on twenty inch rims. There is one little problem that soon becomes a huge problem. The guy at Discount Tire Direct is somewhat correct. Its not that the 20's can't fit on your car. Its not really even a matter of rubbing the fender. The problem is the suspension. A twenty inch wheel causes more stress on the axles. This contributes to faster wearing of the struts and shocks from absorbing more shock & tension of the road during a typical drive. This soon leads to costly repair of suspension components that ordinarily take a llllloooonnnngggg time to go bad. The only way to even this out is to use a 25 series tire (which is damn near no rubber at all.) So for your safety and protection, wheels sellers are not going to tell you its ok to buy twenties for your Maxima. But its up to you bro. Me myself, I am going with 19's with a lip. ( and I get the same reaction form wheels dealers.) Because a lips causes the offset to lower. And our cars have a high offset.

probably no help but i put 20s on a 3rd gen with 255/35/20 tires, it fit other then turning, because the fender body panel was rubbing on turns. the only way these 8.5 inch rims would fit on my car is because they had a rwd offset. they even had enough room between the stock strut tower and the tire. but on the 3rd gen they stick out a bit with a 15 mm offset.

I just put 245/45/20 's on my '04 and I have had no problems. I also lowered with Eibach, 1 in in front and .08 in the rear. No rubbing no problems. Check it out...

Thats cool, but you have a 2004 Maxima. Those units come stock with 18 inch wheels if I am not mistaken. the rule of thumb to upsizing is one can upsize at least 3 inches. Two inches is the safe guard to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. Our problem here is we have 2002 I35's, the same platform as the 2002 Maxima's.

Well don't worry about it. We all make those mistakes from time to time. I remember I had 225/40/17 on my Accord, when I went to get new tires, I was sold a set of 215/45/17. I could swear I had a different size tire, come to find out, I was not suppose to run the 225/40/17 on my car. Guess thats why I kept having fast wearing on the tires.

Does that apply to other cars as well, or just the Maxima? Take a look at Audi TT. It has 17" wheels stock. If you go at least 3 inches bigger, you're looking at 20" wheels. I searched for compatible tires, and the closest tire size is 255/30/20. I don't own a TT, but I dont think 20" wheels, with 255 wide tires, are gonna fit into TT's fender well.
The rule of thumb to upsizing is...... look at your fender well!

I can say the 20” wheels will fit the car and no they will not rub, BUT THERE IS A SLIGHT PROBLEM I’m facing... my car seems a bit low. The car is on 18” springs I’m wondering should I change them to 19” springs to accommodate the 20” rims..
