Potenza RE950

I have a 2k Max with Potenza RE950 tires. I have read many posts saying how bad the OE Potenza's are in the rain, specifically with hydroplaning, and that they should not be used. I have also just read the ConsumerReports.org evaluation of performance tires indicating that the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 is one of the better tires tested with excellent wet weather performance. Is the Potenza RE950 the tire that has given other members the wet weather problems, or is there another model and/or version of Potenza tire that is inferior? Should I stick with the Potenza RE950's? I am considering getting a new set of Falken Ziex ZE 512's. The Potenza's are still in good shape, 80% tread left.

If they are fine for you, then keep them. They aren't anywhere as bad as the Goodyear Eagle RS-As that are OE on the 4th Gen http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/hpas.jsp

As you can see, the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 are pretty good. The bad potenza is RE-92. If you still want to get Falken, I'll buy the RE950 from you.

Thanks for the information. I will stick with the RE950's for now, and in a few months I will get 4 Falkens. When I bought the car the dealer replaced the 2 worn front tires with Cooper Cobra P215/55R16 91T tires, and so I have those and the RE950's on the back. I thought that H rated tires were standard equipment, I guess I was wrong about that if the dealer is using T rated tires. I am not happy with T rated tires on the front, but at least I now know the RE950's on the back are OK. My original 96 Max was totaled in Sept. 03 in a 70mph fish-tail spin. I had good tires (Kumho V rated 17's), but I had let them wear down too much being too cheap on getting new one's. That will not happen again. Thanks again for the info. KJ
