Dunlop SP Sport A2, or Yokohama Avid H4

Which tire is better? If you have/have had these tires, I would like to know how well they handle, how long they last, and how well they grip the road. Any good or bad comments are welcome.

Sport A2 got the AA traction rating going on. Little bro' has 'em. Great tire. Know a dude with Avids on his Accord, he didn't like 'em.

I put the Dunlops SP Sport A2's on two months ago. They were great in the heavy rain fall yesterday, and are quiet on dry roads.

I was looking for a good all season tire. I didn't like the Goodyear RSAs that came with the car. They developed sidewall cracks that the tire shop comes from belts separating.

I have the Dunlop A2, great all around tires, but tread wear could be better. Tires are great on dry and wet pavement, and great driving through heavy rain with minimal hydro. I have ~40K miles on them now, and shopping for new tires as I type this message. I'm looking for tires with alittle better tread wear.

I had the Avid H4's on my 90 Stanza. They were a lot better than my General's, thats for sure. Besides that grip is ok on dry pavement, wet traction was pretty good too. Its good for the $$

i'm driving avid H4s now and I love them. world of improvement over the GoodYear GTIIs that came with the car. These tires are excellent in wet/snow and they handle very well also, the car will slide before they squeal. Wear is 45,000, I've had them for several months, drive pretty hard, and they're holding up.

No experience w/ the Avids but I had the A2's on my 95 and loved them. I would highly recommend them.

I have Avid H4s, and highly recommend you stay away from them. Poor traction in all weather, poor quality tires (2 seperates tires bubbles because of a belt rip). Mileage is good, but that's as much as I can say. Probably the biggest mistake I ever made for my Maxima. Even bigger than the GTR emblem.

Sport A2's all the way. There quiet, smooth and handle great. Wet road traction is good and light snow traction is fine as well.

Excellent tire!

I know I had Avids on my old 96 accord. But I think they were called T4.. thought. Anyways they are a soft rubber tire and IMHO they were quite at all times and good traction on dry roads/conditions. But once hell marry drops rain them ***** suck bad and I mean bad. Talk about slipping.. these tires made it feel like I had no tires on the accord.

I think IMHO what is a all aroung great sport tires were to BFG's Euro TA's.

I don't know if they still make them,, but I remember owning them on my older sport rides and I felt really safe with them in serve or dry weather conditions.

I won't go into my experience with the A2. Good traction but they wear out too fast. I had one blow out on me during the summer and I only had them for a year.

The A2's are great. Good rain and superb dry traction. However, for a 420 wear rating I will probably get 50% of the miles I had on my old Michelin MXV4's (400 wear rating). I'm at 33000 miles and the A2's will need replacements soon. My old Michelins lasted 70000 miles. The A2's do make less screeching sounds when turning and accelerating, and they have better traction than the Michelins. Hope this helps.

After reading 100+ reviews on TireRack about the Sport A2s, I think I'll keep looking. The majority of reviews had complaints about the treadwear being terrible. They said that the tires needed replacement at <20K miles.
I am currently seeing many good reviews on the Potenza RE950s. Any comments on these?

Ditto that.

Bought the Avids -- hated 'em, took 'em back and bought the A2's.

Of course this was several years ago on a honda -- but I doubt much has changed since then.

Hey all go here to get tire reviews also. Tire rack sometimes are not your best opinions.

Wish I had read those reviews too. My sport A2s are about dead at 25k. They told me 50k for these tires. Heck, I got more mileage out of my Dunlop 5000s than I am my sport A2s.
