tires just sitting around....

my friend might sell me his 18" chrome rims on low profile tires. problem is they have been sitting in his garage for a year or two. will this affect how the tire performs?

I wouldn't think so if they were stored properly. How are they stored? Stacking, bags, where (temperature/humidity), etc.?

They will be fine, other than the fact that chrome wheels are ugly.

225/40/18 will be too small for a 5th gen, like 3% off the speedometer. It's your call, though.

i checked it and the actual 3% will help decrease the effects of chrome the rims/tires came off a 4th gen ill just have to watch out for curb rash.

I have 555s and I love them. I have absolutely no signs of wear after 12,000 miles.

They are horrible in the rain though. Absolutely horrible.

RE92's? Let's not get carried away now...... The wet traction is much better on the 555s.

Actually, I could dunk my 555's in a vat of WD40 and still have better traction than RE92s.

I must have a set of "factory freak" NT 555's. Mine have 22,000 hard miles on them and i still have 6/32 tread depth. Only thing i've done is rotate them every 5-6k. Dry and wet traction are excellent!

By "storage" I mean "how are they arranged in his garage?". You're supposed to store them lying flat on top of each other or on a level surface with air still in them. I'm asking because sometimes people will store them sitting up, which can sometimes flat spot them.

well if i had seen them i would have told u how they are stored. im hoping he put them on top of eachothr. the reason i started this thread was because if they were sitting up, which i doubt, i was wondering if they owuld make flat spots. ill find out soon enough.
