shipping rims and tires

how are you guys shipping your tires and rims? UPS or truck or something else? I got a price of $150.00 to ship from CA to MD UPS ground. Is there any other way cheaper?

That's a rip-off. Have you tried USPS? Shipping should be around $80-100.

I have no idea. AFAIK, they give out free boxes, bubbles and tapes if you ship via priority.

I don't know how much USPS will charge to ship that (do they even handle stuff that large??), but it may have to do with the weight. A tire and wheel together can weigh almost 50 lbs each, so you could be looking at nearly 200 lbs!

someone told me if you do it online and they pick it up they do not check the weight. now obviously you cant put down like 20lbs when its 100 but the max usps does is 70, so i was thinking 2 rims and tires=70? hey maybe they will buy it and let it slide.
